Emmisions Question...

Recommended Posts

I'm in the process of adding some choice mods to my car for a little more power [;)]. I was wondering if the following exhaust/turbo set up would pass an emmissions test:

WRX MY06 2.5.

Full decat Up pipe - VF34 Turbo - Sports catdown pipe - de-res centre - Prodrive BB.

My intention is to go with the regular up pipe (MUST be legal) and keep the power down to prevent the uppie from breaking up, but if a decatted uppie will be legal, then I might as well do that while I'm at it (providing I can source it on the cheap!).

Thanks for your help.

I've only heard of a couple of sports cats not passing the emissions, but this was ment to be down to not getting it hot enough.

As long as you explain to the tester, they need to get the thing red hot, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Was that with a decatted up-pipe though?

Mine passed with the same set-up..................that was the car stone cold on testing and say nothing about the set-up of the car to the garage i.e a true test.

Not only that .......my sports cat was bought second hand.

For clarity :-

You plan - Full decat Up pipe - VF34 Turbo - Sports catdown pipe - de-res centre - Prodrive BB.

I have - Full decat HKS Up pipe -VF35 turbo -TSL Thundercat- afterburner decat and straight thru centre section - H&S back box
