martin_allen
since the PPP offer for WRX's has annoyingly finished i'm looking to get a bit more from the car via the back box/map and filter route. What are everyone's thoughts on just getting a box on its own? I'm not wanting hassle at MOT time so i was going to leave the cats/rest of the pipes unchanged but i would like a little more noise and performance. Now, not after an ear splitting din, don't want problems with the neighbours and would like to keep all my teeth, plus its a wagon and i've been told that the open boot means extra noise anyway. What's good on a budget or is a back box alone likely to make next to no difference? cheers! 5t. Link to comment
gus the bus
You could get backbox, centre (deresonated section) and delete the third cat with NO Mot/ emissions problems. Personally I'd recommend (I would[]) a group N back box 4" rolled tail, to go with centre section and de-cat pipe. Releases the burble nicely without the blue lights following ie decent sound doesnt wake the street. My mate Paul makes all of these and I can get them @ great prices for Scottish Scoobies members. STi_Bandit
Cal did a very good post on the modding stages he did to his wrx worth a wee read to give you an idea of the figures you can expect with different parts added Bandit Link to comment
martin_allen
[Y] cheers. replace the downpipe seems to be the way to go looking at that. Not after anything like 300bhp, just a bit more go, some nice noise and a bit more midrange. Do a lot of motorway miles so reliability/useablity are key. Hence the need for a exhaust with a nice rasp when pushing on but relative silence at other times! 5t. Link to comment

Sounds great and not very noisy at all inside the car.... unless you bury the right foot a bit ...then it sounds just sweet [Y] Kit B Link to comment
~ ~ Cal ~~
I have been through the whole exhaust thing and the best compromise for me was the H&S ScoobySport Classic Video from inside the car @ The Nordschleife ( jump to 1 minute 58 secs after the long straight) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQryLnN3pIY and from Knockhill internal........... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktDioCoXOvE even sounds braw on a Legacy p.s mine is specifically purchased to be fine @ 75-80 mph on the motorway Link to comment
martin_allen
Much appreciated guys. Someone saw this post and offered me a Nur Spec through Scoobynet. Looks good actually although i'm sure that is a very loud exhaust. Has a full system for sale though so could be a bargain. Probably see if i can get a listen to yours too Gus if that is ok. Thanks for the vids Cal. Am thinking of a very similar set up to Boris i believe. Sure it was a wagon owner at an SIDC meet that said wagons struggle with the noise as the rear bulkhead isn't there to keep it in! 5t. Link to comment
