it means it's a UK model which is the same as a JDM model but with the good bits taken out of it.

I just thought that a Type UK was a regular Impreza with specifications more suited to the UK standards. In other words all Imprezas purchased from Subaru dealers are "Type UK" since they are configured espeically for the UK market. However, yesterday I was sitting behind a Newage WRX and it had an actual "Type UK" badge which I don't have! I never saw the front of it, but I'm pretty sure it was a Hawkeye as it had the 17" 7-spoke silver alloys, new for MY06 (I think). The car was spotted in Oban, had a cherished plate and was bought from Greives.

I'm pretty sure his was not an STi going by the spoiler that is, plus his mud flaps had big white WRX lettering on them.

Probably bought the type uk badge and stuck it on the car

Type UK was a model that Subaru did in 06. Standard WRX but with Smartnav and tracker fitted. Also sure it got bluetooth too.

Yeah thats it! I remember that deal. I couldn't get it cause they gave me such a crappy trade-in value for my car, ironically, if I bought the regular car (which I did) my trade-in value went up by a £1000.
