thewelsho Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Hi folks, getting some weird sounds coming from what seems to be the back of the car at low speeds. When I reduce speed to a crawl while approaching traffic lights etc., i get a loud WOOOO or humming sound coming from the rear. This has been going on for about 8 weeks and started very shortly after I had DS2500 fitted front rear. I took the car to KH at the last SIDC track day and after that the sound stopped for a while but has recently started up again and appears to be louder. Any ideas how I can resolve this? Thanks! J

colin_ross Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Does the pitch change with the speed? Humming or droning noise could be a wheel bearing or diff. Might be worth felling the back wheels after you've had a run to see if one is much warmer that the other. This would indicate binding brakes, seeing as you mention you had these done. Jack the car up and feel for movment in the wheel to check for signs or bearing wear. Then call ghostbusters.

I'm going to Knockers tomorrow, so I will have the car jacked up to put on the track wheels anyway. The noise is only apparent when slowing right down, not at any other time. The last time out an KH, I heard the sound around the 3rd corner, then it never came back again, even afterI came off of the track. It is only recenly it has started again. I'm still under warranty, so I'm not too bothered, just as long as it doesn't come flying off on the track!

I have another couple of weeks off of work, so I'll do it next week.
