sliu82 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Hi everybody! I have traded in my Lotus Exige for a 2005 WRX (silver), picking it up tomorrow. This is my first time owning a scooby so i hope i enjoy it as much as i did with the Exige. this will also be my first time owning a car with a turbo[] When i start the car, how long should i leave it to idle before driving away and also when stopping? Any advice about owning a scooby for a noob would be appreciated![] Cheers Simon

nanaki Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 can drive it off once its started mate just don't go hammering it untill the engine is warmed up. as for cool down at the end that depends on how you've been driving. I tend to let it idol a couple mins each time but if i've been out for a blast so to speak i do a 5 min cooldown drive off boost before i stop if possible. oh and kiss good buy to your credit card.
scientific steve Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 howdie matey what i do is sit for around one minute, just to let the oil get round all the bits then drive off very easy, not taking it on boost or over 2500 rpm drive like this for about 6-8 mins, depending on what time of year ( longer in winter due to colder weather temps ) untill there is some heat in the engine. dont mistake the water temp to mean that your ready to give it a good booting, the oil takes a wee bit longer also, after you have been out and had a play, just take it easy fot the last couple of miles and you should be fine, if you want to you can let it sit for a minute or so just to be sure. have a look on www.aberdeenscoobies.co.uk for local stuff for local people [] SS
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Hello indeed and welcome, Another 'deen man here although West Coaster at heart... Were you ever @ KH ? You may have seen my name on Scottish Elises ? I was solely responsible for getting them off Yahoo Groups and onto phpBB2 forums ( http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/index....bdc5feb753f2880_ Simon now does a great job, I only proposed the idea and then took the heat from some of the old dinosaurs. Gotta love these Elises / Exiges though......I know Kenny, Ed and old Tut quite well See you around my good man. Start saving for those mods as Scooby are x 10 more "mod-able" than Loti Cheers cal

johns Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Welcome Simon, a lot of the Elise/Exige owners also come to our Knockhill and other events - Tut for example has been coming along since about 1998 and pops up on here from time to time. See you around. John
