richscooby Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 [] Hi everyone, I have lurked on here for a while but this is the first post, thought I would say hello and introduce myself to you all Had this 55 plate WRX for about 6 weeks now.........still havent stopped grinning [] yet (dont think i ever will) its my first scoob, had various other big engined cars but nothing that makes me grin like this! " target="_blank">http://files.photojerk.com/scoobyrich/Scooby1.jpg"> Its totally standard apart from the PPP kit fitted from new. I'm toying with the idea of mods but dont have the deep enough pockets at the moment! First on the list is a turbo timer, can anyone recommend any makes that I should go for? Also I'm from the South Lanarkshire area, and I do try to give a flash of the lights or a wave to any other scoobs that I see out there! Well hopefully I get a chance to chat with a few of you over the coming months, Regards Richard
Dougie C Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Welcome to SIDC and hope your credit card in the bin as the modding will get addictive. Lovely looking Scooby you have there. I'm sure everyone will give you a warm welcome but with Fast & Modified Show on today at Ingliston think they are all there. Will look out for your scooby. Dougie C
glen_cadwallader Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 welcome bud nice motor, dont bother with a turbo timer, when the cars sitting running after a hard run your probably not doing it much good as it generates even more heat stationary. Best thing to do is run the car down slowly for the last few miles before you come to a halt, no high revs and no hard braking,. cool it down on the move where you have added airflow, when you pull up 10 seconds at idle then switch off.
richscooby Posted July 15, 2007 Author Posted July 15, 2007 Thanks guys, credit card is now torn up...[] Thanks for the advice on the TT I have been taking it easy for the last few miles as you suggest (lots of people have been telling that I should use I timer) but my last turbo car (10 years ago which I bought from my dad (he had it from new)) still had its original turbo after 130k with no timer! just plenty of regular 6k oil changes! Thanks again guys Richard M
glen_cadwallader Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 No probs Richard, a lot of guys dish out advice but they really havent got a clue on these forums ! Hope to see you at some of the meets etc. Glen

johnnyr6 Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Hi m8, welcome. I'm also from south lanarkshire so look out for a silver classic with white wheels on the rare occasion it's out these days. I've got a tt fitted but never use it. I can't alarm the car whilst it's on. Johnny.
