Litchfield Type 25

Was thinking of having a test drive of the Type 25 before the new Subaru model comes out. But first I wanted any feedback from people that had driven the latest version, and more importantly has anyone had dealings with Litchfield short or long term, good or bad. Wanted to checkout Kent guys first before posting nationally [:(][:(][:P]

Welcome back from your travels Hugh.  Don't think you'll go wrong with either a T25 or a Hawkeye [:(]

Well I can't say I've driven the type25, but I did drive the new WRX and I was very impressed.  My first impression was that they have taken the best bits from the previous 3 models and put them into one car.  In traffic it's well behaved, and even in 5th gear accelerated with no lag or hesitation at all.  Country lanes were no problem, it gripped well, braked well - in fact when we took it back the brakes were smoking lol.  I was however disappointed with the lack of scooby rumble, after all thats what we get them for - although this is easily rectified with after market parts, as is the spoiler lol.  I'd love to have another drive now I've got my wrist out of the cast lol.

The brakes were smoking probably because the brakes are crap on a WRX, wouldn't have to worry about that on a Type 25 though
Have you not been out in the Type 25 then Ian.

I was thinking about saying it also depends on the driver [;)]

I havent driven one- but i bought some mats off a bloke who had one- and in typical style we chatted for ages about subarus! In a nutshell he said there wasnt anything wrong with it - this was a blobeye one though so no porsche brakes or cossie engine- he said his wife drove it to the shops and he could drive it hard and safely when applicable!. It's quite stealth looking (which appeals to me)  but bags of torque and the handling was awesome (he'd had a Type UK as well)

If money was no object i'd would probably have one (but i also like yellow RA-R's at the mo')

Litchfield have good customer feedback as far as i can tell- I phoned them regarding a SpecC I was eyeing up and the guy seemed very nice on the phone- and knowledgable too

I'm very tied up ,work wise for the next four weeks and can't spear the time to arrange a test drive. So was testing the water as far as Litchfield are concerned. They seem a young company with no proven track record. I don't fancy spending 40+K and they disappear in a couple of years time. Hence asking you guys. Might have to post general forum, must be someone in the club with one. Sorry lads but its got to be YELLOW with no graphics. [6]

Your joking arent you.  Iain is one of the longest running importers, probably second only to David Hendry Cars, who incidentally use Iains model reports to get their own cars through the EVSA.  They have a very good track record, especially with their link with Powerstation (next door) and winning the time attack series last year as a test for their new production Type 25.

A friend had an original Type 25 which he binned for a Forester STI [H], then binned that for a Spec C RA.  When I asked him which was best he said the Spec C RA, but has now binned that for another Forester STI.

The new Type 25 is an excellent car....would I pay 40k for it, probably not no.  But the Cosworth engine complete is 12k.....so it is easy to see where a large chunk of money has gone.  The Porsche brakes are an option though......are they worth it....yes, definately! [Y]

The only issue's I have with Litchfields/Powerstation is their insistance to use Milltek and other partners that they have forged relationships with.  Maybe I dont want a ceramic coated Milltek, but an H&S......

Hopefully mate....due to go to Norway on Thursday though....might slip back if I am lucky.....already missed a few meets due to work [:D]

Not been out in it, but have both the Type 25 handling kit and Porche brakes on mine...we have been pushing Iain for a while for a Type 25 Forester.....but I doubt there is a market for it[;)]

The guy they have racing the Type25 Litchfield car was there the day I had my AST's fitted last year.

He went out in one of the new 25's while I was waiting for my parts to be fitted and came back saying that it WAS fantastic, for a raod car.

I thought about a test drive, but my conscience would not let me as I had just spent all my spare cash (about the same as T25) on buying an doing up my house.

I thought it was a good quote though.

...............I don't fancy spending 40+K ..........

It's also going to cost you a fortune in recarpeting your garage - after all you wouldn't expect a Lichfield to be parked on just any old bit of rug would you now lol

In all honesty, I would wait and see what they come up with, with the new S-GT or STI.  When I was last at Powerstation and was picking Curtis's brains about the Type 25 Race car that was there in bits, he said that they were not doing any more track work as the guys preferred 'rallying'.  He said they were waiting for the new car to come in to start development on that......
