plsteve Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Just had the car in at Town and County and been told I need new front disks and pads along with 2 front tyres. The tyres are easy, sticking with the same Potenzas on the car at the moment, however, I need some advice on the brakes. I have a 2005 WRX with PPP and while the standard brakes are ok, I think with the extra power from the PPP an upgrade would be wise. I don't know where to start though, I have standard 17" wheels on, so can someone reccomend a decent priced set of brakes and pads that will gove a bit better performance than the standards. Cheers Steve.
craig mac Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Steve I would try a set of ds2500 pads in your standard caliper for now, see how you get on, great pads i had them on my Sti You can get discs on Fleabay for about 200 a set thats dimpled jobbies http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Impreza-Turbo-WRX-01...VQQcmdZViewItem
plsteve Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 Thanks for that Craig [] I noticed the same seller has a full set of front and back disks with Red Stuff ceramic pads for £500. Even though the rears are not needing done yet I think I might go for this set and get them all done at the same time. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EBC-pads-and-discs-f...ZViewItem Anyone have thoughts on the red stuff pads, I've red mixed reports on these Cheers, Steve.
craig mac Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I think Gogsie has red stuff on his car and they are eating his discs!! []
scoobyiain Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 as performance is the place to go. just got front and back discs and pads for mine. ds2500 pads for front were approx £170 and the front discs were £120
Green Hornet Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Yep, call Alyn at ASPerformance - 0191 410 3770. What the man doesn't know about brakes isn't worth knowing. Have also recently got new pads and discs from Alyn but after a good chat, ditched the DS2500s in favour of Pagid RS4.2.1 blacks. He's doing them delivered for the same price (£130) at the mo and reckons the Pagid has a superior compound. I've only done about 800miles on them so far but have to agree - better stoppers than my DSs. Much choice in the disc department but depends what you're going to need (looks, track performance, upgrades) so probably worth talking to. When you compare the costs against what 'Stealers' charge for OE stuff, it's probably not too much cheaper BUT performance-wise, even on standard 4 pot calipers, expect to have to peel yer face off the dash when you hit the pedal! Cheers, Stewart.
plsteve Posted July 10, 2007 Author Posted July 10, 2007 Thanks for the advice guys. Ended up giving Alyn a call at AS Performance, and you are right, top guy and really knows his stuff. Went through all the options and ended up going for DS2500's all round with some new disks as well. Delivered overnight, great service. Can't recommend them enough! Car is in this morning getting them fitted [] Steve.

BTW, got KCs new album... I'm not liking it at all! Maybe it will just take a bit of time.
