Tricky7 Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 alright there, fast on the road to finding an impreza wagon. sadly too young to ever contemplate an integrale []but here's me ready and willin' to sign up for the subaru experience. insurance ok - check; 5 figure fuel fund - check; clean license - check; family friendly car choice - check. a brave new world. anywayz, point of the post? - yes - have seen a wrx sti v3 wagon in mackay trading. £8,795. it's been there a while. new recon engine.am considering... anyone else looked at this - or anything similar? please fire away if you have $0.02 to give cheers and thanks[]
micra_wrc Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 welcome to the forum. cant say much about the wagon you've seen but recommend doing your homework and not rushing into buying the first car you see. Walk away from cars that don't quite feel right to you... scoobs are expensive to repair when they go bang. I spent a lot of time looking before buying my car but its worth the hassle to get a solid car... CLICKY for my story in buying my scoob []
seafar99 Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 As someone who has a Sti Wagon , i'd say you've made a good choice of scoob. Not having seen the car your looking at i'd still think the £8795 is far too high. There is someone on this site (can't remember his name at the moment - somebody will ) who is fast getting a really good name for importing excellent classics, if it were me i'd certainly look into this . craig.
seafar99 Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 could be worth a look http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/187932.htm
frank c Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 As above , these guys are well known for having ridiculous prices though the cars do seem tempting when you go to have a look. Can't say i've got much time for the owner either but that's just my humble opinion . As said before there are LOADS of good quality cars out there, just take your time and have a look at a good few and take someone with you who knows the brand well. Could save you alot of cash in the long run. Is it a Wagon your after ? and what kind of spec are you looking for ?

I looked at a couple in there before i got my terzo, and to be honest, you werent getting that much for your money.I would shop around a bit first before you dive in to that one. Only my opinion of course. [] cheers iain

diffbuster Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Being biased for that kind of price you could get a version 5 wagon if you look hard enough 99 onwards can be mapped unlike earlier models but are like hens teeth dont rush into it and be prepared to travel,Mckays cars always seem top notch but pricey good hunting.
Tricky7 Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 thanks all, warranty appealing and mackays have given (me) good service in the past. a fresh engine is a big factor i'm figuring - what are the odds of 2 sti engines going in quick succession!?[] get to run it in meeself not in a mega rush - want to spend ma money well like a lot of you. thanks for comments again

MY 99 Uk Classic Turbo defo a wagon - missus says saloon one step too far to boyracer. like the sti look - but if there's a garage with any wrx that's clean all over, got 276bhp and fair miles then ok

frank c Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Not sure buddy, i think they sometimes run a higher octane ( imports), hence need octane booster unless remapped for uk fuel. Better off asking someone who knows the score for peace of mind It might be a reason why they go bang in the first place ?
Tricky7 Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 cheers Frank, will check some old threads on that one to be sure as a start east lothian - good driving roads eh[]

ninja Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 If its a import it needs to be run on the higher octane stuff ,1 o the mates has a supercharged DC5 and it had 2 be run on v power ,as well as the 92 plate civic i had and im pretty sure on my classic it says use super unleaded only and its uk spec
frank c Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 cheers Frank, will check some old threads on that one to be sure as a start east lothian - good driving roads eh[] Aye , no bad. But i work in the borders and it's even better down there
