  1. Tried to organise this earlier in the year but got no response - so here goes again !!

I asked Andy Walsh at Car Limits, if he would make up a bespoke course including basic slalom ( eg in and out of a line of cones, handbrake turn at the end and back again) and an intro to drifting - a chance to practice controlled longish slides. I know the Scoob is not ideal for drifting, but its an excuse to try some controlled lairy driving

Its a full day course for 4 people, so I'm looking for 3 (or more) Scooby drivers.

I have some worn tyres to use, as I think this may not be tyre friendly

Having done one of his courses before, I can recommend the day. Its a concentrated learning experience. 1-1 tuition to get the technique "right" then practice on your own, but Andy is always there watching, and to ask questions, and to passenger with you to help you perfect the manoevre or to demonstrate again.

    Andy said

‘As Scoobys don’t like tight stuff we can work on the hand brake stuff and the Scandinavian flick, trail braking to cause over steer, drift control and even the j turn could be covered along with the usual re-cap of the high speed bend that on a standard second day we usually work on sideways recovery anyway.

I will talk to everyone on the morning of the course to assess the requirements of the group."

Please p mail me if interested - or add comments on here !! If you are interested, let me know what you would like to learn/practice and I can update the requirements to Andy so he knows beforehand what we want.

Then we can sort a date. His "4 person" days are normally £220 per person.

  2. Hello just a quick one to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Barney (Buttons) I saw the SIDC stand @ JapShow @ Santa Pod this past weekend and felt this is the club to joins so.....here I am. Please pop by and say hello any time. I also need a new Clutch on my WRX BUGEYE if anyone has a good local contact.

    See you all around.

Hi mate, welcome onboard... good to chat on Sunday

PS ... Roger Clark are not to far away from you... they're in Hinkley

  3. that list of mods will probably set you back ay least £3k and you'll get around 300bhp for your cash

Then you will still have a WRX engine internals, turbo, not very good brakes and farely woolly suspension (power is nothing with out control ;) )

I'd go for the STi either with PPP or the mods you mentioned above and as a base car you'll be at where your trying to get your WRX

.... although saying that have a chat with Ace he's looking to sell is non PPP STi and thats kicking more than my old PPP STi did :o

  4. i would say 20-25mpg is realistic from an STi

Of course that will go down when on those late night blasts

but hey.... who ever bought an Impreza for fuel economy

As for servicing i would budget something like this £120 for an oil/filer change (A service every 5-10k), £350 or so for your plugs, filters and oil/fluids (B service once a year/every 10k) and some thing like £500+ for the belts one which i think also covers diff and gear box oil (C service i think thats every 30k)

    and i think the schedule goes something like A, B, C, B, A, C, A, B, C

all this was off the top of my head so not completely sure

    Hope this helps

  5. hi there and welcome

    nice car there mate

as for posting pictures you always upload them to Photobucket or similar and then post the IMG tag on the page

... and please do not take this the wrong way but you do not have to shout :D .... turn your caps lock off :)

anyways.... where you from are we going to being seeing around?

    welcome aboard :rotfl:

  6. Who owns the gray STI at the top ? its one of the smartest classics i'v seen IMO :)

Grey STi at the top was a lad called Philldodd06 .... i think he posts on here

Did the engine rebuild himself and by all accounts was very please with result

  7. Hi there

My first scoob was a STi UK (my03) in black and i loved it but after going to shows i was always drawn to the 2 door classics

So i sold the STi UK and got myself a Type R and a Corsa for commuting.

Between the 2 scoobs there is a world of difference.

For example the UK STi was a great commuter which because of the gearing the R does not do so well ... but then i did not get the R to commute in :D

I always felt the UK Sti was a 'bit' civilised and i wanted a rawer experience from scooby ownership.

In an ideal world i would have both.

Just be clear in your mind what you want the car for and which ever you buy i am sure you will not be disappointed

  8. 1976 1.7l Hillman Hunter Estate - £350 from mum and dad ..... :brickwall:

.... oh and it was the delux as it had an electric arial ..... :brickwall:

...rear wheel drive and no weight at the back ... great for drifting out of round a bouts.... :P

    what happened to it ....

.... no one told me you had check the oil on a regular basis
