I have MY98 that does the same,can always smell petrol when started from cold-smell disappears once engine has warmed up a bit.Have asked on a couple of forums and all say it is nothing to worry about.

do you need to be a paid up member for this?,only recently got the car and wouldn't mind meeting fellow scooby owners-only spectating though.

Only had my car for a few weeks so hopefully able to make the day,is everyone meeting up there or going up convoy style? how many going from my neck of the woods?

dont fancy trying this myself-I assume the timing belt needs to be removed?,any idea on cost?only had the car a couple of weeks so hopefully not too expensive?

have noticed a smell of oil in the engine bay and think there maybe a leak from the oil pump.Seems to be coming out from the bottom of the timing belt cover the one with the timing marks on it,unable to get this off at present due to rusted up fixing bolts.The right had cover comes off but unable to see any oil from this position.Does it sound likely or could there be any other causes?-waiting to get it up on ramps to check it fully. it is a 98 uk

was only wanting to spend about £250-£300 thats why I thought magnex,I take it nobody rates them that highly?

what exhaust does everyone suggest?wanting to get a good sound without being excessively noisey-thought about a 6x4 magnex

after asking many questons on the forum have eventually bought my scooby a 98 blue sportswagon turbo. so expect many more questions and hope to see you all in person sometime in the future. by the way anyone from my neck of the wood -Grangemouth

how easy is it to fit a boost gauge? 98 uk ,once fitted does it need to be calibrated or will it just work?

how easy is it to remove the bump strips along the sides of some imprezza wagons.Are they just glued on?,

cheers Gumball-all very nice motors but am trying to get something a bit closer to home travelled 100mile round trip last weekend to look at a very good condition?? white scooby to find the bumpers looked a completely different shade to the car and mutiple rust spots on the bodywork complete waste of time.

how reliable are the engines and what mileage would you expect before major work. Looked at a 94 with 110K miles,everything seemed ok until after the test drive and noticed/smelt burnt oil from left hand side on engine,guy said that it was the rocker cover gasket-he said the other side had been done but not the left due to the hassle.bullshit or not? is there a upper limit to mileage-I realise alot will be down to how it has been looked after but should I steer clear of ALL 100k plus engines that have not had some form of rebuild??
