The bloody car ( Mini Cooper British Racing Green) looks like Torville and Dean have been all over it scratches everywhere none deep enough to get your finger nail in but it looks shocking. Any ideas for a quick fix, what products are best, need to get the stuff over the counter somewhere tomorrow as she is chopping it in on Tuesday for a new one. Thanks Pete

  10. Pasted from SWRT Rally Bulletin SS5: 1425hrs Ortega 2 (29.66km) After a refuelling stop, the drivers tackled Ortega, the longest of the day’s repeated stages. In an extremely close result, Manfred Stohl was fastest and claimed his first stage win of the rally by a slender 0.1sec from Sebastien Loeb who was second. Chris Atkinson was the quickest Subaru driver, and set the fourth-fastest time. But the biggest story of SS5 took place after the finish, on the road section to SS6, when a loss of engine oil forced rally leader Petter Solberg out of the day’s competition. Solberg’s Impreza was recovered to the service area for a thorough inspection before a decision on whether or not to re-start will be taken. Fastest time: Stohl (Citroen) 16:58.2 Un-bloody-believable! Pete

  15. As above Customer: "I've been ringing 0700 2300 for two days and can't get through to enquiries, can you help?". Operator: "Where did you get that number from, sir?". Customer: "It was on the door to the Travel Centre". Operator: "Sir, they are our opening hours". --------------------------------------------------------------------- Samsung Electronics Caller: "Can you give me the telephone number for Jack?" Operator: "I'm sorry, sir, I don't understand who you are talking about". Caller: "On page 1, section 5, of the user guide it clearly states that I need to unplug the fax machine from the AC wall socket and telephone Jack before cleaning. Now, can you give me the number for Jack?" Operator: "I think you mean the telephone point on the wall". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RAC Motoring Services Caller: "Does your European Breakdown Policy cover me when I am travelling in Australia?" Operator: " Doesn't the product give you a clue?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Caller (enquiring about legal requirements while travelling in France): "If I register my car in France, do I have to change the steering wheel to the other side of the car?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Directory Enquiries Caller: "I'd like the number of the Argoed Fish Bar in Cardiff please". Operator: "I'm sorry, there's no listing. Is the spelling correct?" Caller: "Well, it used to be called the Bargoed Fish Bar but the 'B' fell off". --------------------------------------------------------------------- Then there was the caller who asked for a knitwear company in Woven. Operator: "Woven? Are you sure?" Caller: "Yes. That's what it says on the label; Woven in Scotland". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On another occasion, a man making heavy breathing sounds from a phone box told a worried operator: "I haven't got a pen, so I'm steaming up the window to write the number on". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Tech Support: "I need you to right-click on the Open Desktop". Customer: "OK". Tech Support: "Did you get a pop-up menu?". Customer: "No". Tech Support: "OK. Right-Click again. Do you see a pop-up menu?" Customer: "No". Tech Support: "OK, sir. Can you tell me what you have done up until this point?". Customer: "Sure. You told me to write 'click' and I wrote 'click'". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Tech Support: "OK. In the bottom left hand side of the screen, can you see = the 'OK' button displayed?" Customer: "Wow. How can you see my screen from there?" Pete

  19. Paul posted this last year Direct Line offered me £15750 for my car.(Written off as a total loss) Thanks to the advice from you guys an a little trawling the tinternet, a day on the phone, and a few well researched arguments, I got their offer up to £19k Can't tell you how happy I am with that figure. To lose 37% on a 2yr old STi is flippin brilliant. Thanks fellas, especially Fitzy and Monkey Boy. Pete. The best advice I can give you is to have factual arguments available at your fingertips when you are talking to the loss adjuster. If you get no-where with him talk to his line manager. Tell him that under the terms of the policy he is obliged to replace your bike as per your policy so go ahead. I found four similar cars that where available in the UK all for more than I was being offered I proved the servicing was spot on and the condition of my car was correberated(sp) by the guy at my local hand car wash. Its all evidence. Be assertive, never aggressive, make records of all correspondence and phone calls and be persistent; phone them everyday to find out who is doing what in respect of your claim and be meticulous in every detail. Direct Line offered me £150 for a Prodrive front grill kit. By arguing that he was being inconsistent in the percentage he was allowing for depreciation for the grill and the vehicle he really coud not argue. In the end after being on his case for about a week he said "What do you want for it then!" we agreed on £19k. Don't be emotional be factual ! Pete

  24. I had my MY05 STi stolen from a driveway in February, keys taken from house. Tracker located the car within 15 minutes of being phoned. Plod got to the car in 30 minutes and it was eventually recovered and £7k spent on repairs. The same car was taken in September ( keys taken from house again) never to be seen again for a month. Written off by the insurance company. The sim card was taken out of the tracker within minutes of the car being moved, it took Tracker 3 days to block the sim and in the mean time the thieves had made over £200 worth of calls! These guys were professional thieves who used my car in several robberies. They were caught only with some excellent proactive Police work from Staffs police. My theft has just become a TIC ( taken into consideration) I live in a nice part of the world. Two breakins in 13 years on our street, both of them my car! If these boys want your car they will get it, and they are professionals who are prepared to do anything to get their hands on what they want, intimidation, violence etc. I firmly believe that it is only a mater of time before we are reading about some dreadful incident involving a Scooby owner. I hope that your Scooby is safe. In terms of security can you hire a lockup, are there premises nearby that will rent you space, It is not the Car that needs securing it is where it is kept. If you can make access as difficult as possible they they may thnk twice and hopefully move on. Best of luck Pete
