Subarus targetted by thieves

I doubt T&C read this? And I certainly have no intention of telling them either. By asking people's opinions I wanted to make sure that if I requested them to consider offering me some form of compensation I was being reasonable and level headed rather than overreacting in the heat of the moment considering I'd had my car crunched. - can still hear that noise now! I would like to stress that thus far (apart from T&C originally offering differing quotes for the service) I have been impressed with the Customer Service they have offered and like many other posts have said the staff do genuinely seem a nice bunch. This is the first time I have used T&C for servicing as I normally use a cheaper Subaru Service place in Perthshire. I also do not agree with other comments along the lines of "take them for what you can get". I just feel some sort of compensation that appropriately reflects the incident occuring and the inconvience. If I was trading the car in to T&C and I told them it had a minor prang but fully repaired, I would expect them to value it less because of it. I shall give T&C to oppurtunity to make me an offer they feel is appropriate rather than go in there demanding a figure.

Hi A day after geting it valetted I took my treasurered Scooby in this Wednesday for its 60k service (£400++) and to get new wheels fitted. Went to collect it really forward to see it with new alloys on.... However as the staff member was bringing the car round, it got a minor prang as one of the staff accidentally reversed into Service Manager's brand new Land rover. (gulp) They were really good about it obviously taking back the car into bodyshop for 2 day repair. My question to you folks is if the repair looks fine, do I; a) Do nothing more b ) Ask for a discount off the service c) Ask them for suitable compensation (as I can now no longer truthfully say the car has never had a knock) What do you folks think, or am I overreacting??? Hi Think I'll discuss it with Murray (Service Manager) as he seems pretty reasonable & probably calmed down by now after his new Discovery getting damaged too! Given the circumstances and based on your advice (thanks v mucho), I think a heavty % off the service is appropriate, but only if in addition the repair is absolutely immaculate. I hope to hear back from T&C on Friday pm, so will report back on what they offer, as I'm sure you'll all want to be reassured on the Customer Service they offer in situations just like this..

Well I got it! Now got it up North (700 miles later) Was a tad disappointed when collecting as I was promised that a windscreen chip and small dent in bonnet would be removed, as it turns out they were just repaired, ie still minor chip and minor dent still visible. The owner (Gary) of Central Cars thought this this was me "just Moaning", which offended me somewhat. However he recognised that the car didnt totally live upto the expectations that a colleague (his son) had given me and knocked a small amount off the price to reflect this "misunderstanding". That did go someway in rectifing the situation and improving my experience as a customer. So would I recommend buying from distance in the future? hhmmm hard to say. Definitely worth while getting the car professionally inspected thats for sure. Shall see how it runs for the next couple of months (ie hopefully fault free), but it does come with a limited 3 month warranty. Spotted a couple of WR Blue STIs heading north, just before turn off with A19.

Bit geeky this but I thought I'd start a wee blog as it this might be of interest to Scottish/SE England members. I'm about to buy a car from Essex and I live in Scotland. Reasons for doing this; 1) Price (Town and County in Aberdeen seem too pricey for me) 2) Getting the model/colour of car I'm after. WR Blue MY02 WRX Wagon with Morettes 3) As an added bonus I get to visit old mates in London and in Yorkshire on the drive North. I'm buying from here: www.centralcarsuk.co.uk in Leigh on Sea. They seem a friendly bunch and appear to have a good attention to detail. Had the car inspected professionally for £150 by Steve Lee; http://www.alternative-vehicle-inspections.co.uk/ and got a good and very detailed report, Central Cars have agreed to correct all problems (including advisory ones) that have been found for the price that I have agreed to buy the car for. Using Directline for Insurance (v low quote, only £355 as the car has a Tracker which I've now got activated) I'm collecting on Saturday 30th Sept, so I'll give an update on Monday 2nd Oct on my impressions of; 1) The car and the long drive north 2) The service received from Central Cars, thought it would be useful feedback for any members hoping to use them. [] Flying east on the A920 Friday evening (22nd Sept) nr Huntly. If it was you and you read this then please take note, Grampian Police have been informed, but not really because of your speed or handling (you at least appeared in control) but of the Blue X-Type Jaguar in Pursuit (Unmarked Police car?) which very nearly clipped me as it was clinging on for dear life on a tight corner and over on my side of the road by a good foot, he must of been doing at least 90+, sadly I missed his plate due to swerving out of his way, I then pulled over and called it in. Anyone know if this sounds like an unmarked Police car operating in Huntly area??

Got minor Rust Bubbling on Seal with Windscreen... Could it be a design fault on where the Rubber Seal with the Roof meets the Windscreen, possibly allows water to pool and slowly eat away at the metal? Grateful for any advice for me to fix DIY or a cheap Bodyshop in Aberdeen

Just come back from an expensive visit to the gym. Had a v minor bump into barrier, in the non-gritted black iced car park, must of been <5mph! Anyhow lost front left side light and fog lamp. No body damage, so just need new lights. Scooby is an old mans, Impreza Sport '98. Anywhere on web for cheap replacements, obviously not considering putting in an insurance claim. Still slightly miffed that the car park at the gym wasnt gritted. I even went to speak to the gym's front desk afterwards to suggest that they stick some grit down and they said they wouldnt do anything until tomrrow when the guys that do that job are in. Can you believe it??? This is a gym that charges £50 a month! Cheers
