  3. [19/12/05 - 21:52] FIA confirm 2006 entry list Six teams in Manufacturer I & II Loeb will still drive a Xsara WRC with Belgian team Kronos Despite the withdrawal of the Citroen, Peugeot, Mitsubishi and Skoda works teams after the 2005 World Rally Championship season, the official entry list for 2006 include a total of six teams entered in the manufacturer 1 and 2 categories. Ford and Subaru are the only works teams that competed in the 2005 season that will stay in 2006. While the driver line-up of Subaru is unchanged from last year (except that Stephane Sarrazin will have a new co-driver: Stephane Prevot), Ford will count on two new drivers for 2006: Marcus Gronholm as their number one driver and Mikko Hirvonen as his teammate. World Champion Sebastien Loeb will defend his title with a new team since Citroen Sport won't be part of the 2006 championship. The Frenchman will still drive a Xsara WRC but this time it will be with team Kronos. Loeb's teammate at the Monte Carlo Rally (and for most of the rounds of the championship) will be Xavier Pons. Bozian Racing will enter the Manufacturer 2 class with two Peugeot 307 WRCs in twelve rounds of the championship. The team will be officially named ?OMV-Peugeot Norway' and will count on Manfred Stohl and Henning Solberg as their two drivers. Baumschlager Rallye Racing will also compete in the Manufacturer 2 category. The team ? named Red Bull Skoda Team ? will use the Fabia WRC and only one driver has been announced so far: Andreas Aigner. Many private teams will also compete in the championship, boosting the number of participants throughout the season. 2006 World Rally Championship : Manufacturer list of entrants 1 KRONOS TOTAL CITROEN WRT Sébastien LOEB (F) 2 KRONOS TOTAL CITROEN WRT 3 BP-FORD WORLD RALLY TEAM Marcus GRÖNHOLM (FIN) 4 BP-FORD WORLD RALLY TEAM 5 SUBARU WORLD RALLY TEAM Petter SOLBERG (N) 6 SUBARU WORLD RALLY TEAM 7 OMV-PEUGEOT NORWAY 8 OMV-PEUGEOT NORWAY 9 STOBART VK M-SPORT FORD RALLY TEAM 10 STOBART VK M-SPORT FORD RALLY TEAM 11 RED BULL-SKODA TEAM 12 RED BULL-SKODA TEAM 2006 Monte Carlo Rally : Second car entries 2 Kronos Total Citroen WRT Xavier Pons / Carlos del Barrio 4 BP-Ford World Rally Team Mikko Hirvonen / Jarmo Lehtinen 6 Subaru World Rally Team Stephane Sarrazin / Stephane Prevot Hugo GIGUERE Just picked this up from the official rally site regards john b

  11. From the SWRT website Subaru World Rally Team Saddened by Richard Burns Losing his Battle with Illness 26 November 2005 Subaru World Rally Team Saddened by Richard Burns Losing his Battle with Illness The Subaru World Rally Team was deeply saddened to learn of the death of one of its greatest drivers, Richard Burns, after a long fight with cancer. Richard was a long-time friend of Subaru, having enjoyed two spells with the team in his distinguished rallying career. Driving a Subaru Impreza, Richard became the first-ever Englishman to win the FIA World Rally Championship drivers' title in 2001 and scored eight of his ten WRC wins with the team. Richard first joined Subaru in 1992 to contest the British Rally Championship and became the youngest-ever winner of the series the following year. After a short time away from the team Richard rejoined Subaru in 1999 and was twice runner-up in the Drivers' championship before securing the title in 2001. Subaru World Rally Team Technical Director David Lapworth said, "At this sad time our thoughts are with Richard's partner Zoe and his family and friends. Richard was one of the key people who brought the Subaru World Rally Team to what it is today and a large part of our success comes from his input. His wins in the British Championship in 1993 and the World Championship in 2001 brought Subaru to the pinnacle of rallying and his loss leaves a huge gap. Richard will be sorely missed by all at the Subaru World Rally Team, the WRC community and rallying fans across the world."
