About scoobycol

  1. Hi Guys Colin from MSW is back! Some of you will remember I had a lovely 22b but the recession forced me to sell it unfortunately. I now have an immaculate 1998 Typr R V5 which is what the 22b was based on and i hate to say it but it is way more fun to drive and was a fifth the price! I have just moved from the west through to Edinburgh and am looking for a good rolling road and a good place for suspension alignment. The place to go in the west is Kenny Brown in Hillington - is there anybody as good through here? Thanks! :-) Colin
  2. I've been phoning round the places everybody has recommended but they all just have one shade of gold. One place told me there are about 8 shades of Subaru gold and he knew his shade is darker than the 22B's. They are a very light gold. Two places have recommended getting them painted rather than powder coated because you can then get an exact match. As I've never looked into this before I don't know if there's any particular pros and cons to this. Anybody know?
  3. Thanks for all the info guys. I'll contact "three wheels" to get the inside info.
  4. That's worrying! Wouldn't want that to happen on my 'spirited' drive home at night!
  5. mmm my reply came back in the wrong order. I was meaning Dundee's a bit far. I'll try Autoimage and see their work. The 22b wheels seem a lighter gold than normal. My old STi is stuck in the garage, so can't compare them in sunlight yet.
  6. Thanks. I'll bear them in mind. They're a bit far away. Maybe someone knows somewhere a bit closer. Yeah - dream machine. Never thought I'd ever afford one and now I'm trashing it on the Scottish roads! I thought my old STi2 was amazing but the 22B is in a different league.
  7. Hi Folks Not been on here for a while - things have changed! While I've been away I have purchased a lovely 22B which I purchased in the South of England. It had hardly ever seen rain and was kept in a heated garage which was tiled and had a carpet! Now the poor thing is being hammered by me around the soaking wet Scottish roads with grit and salt all over them and the alloys look totally knackered. The salt seems to be eating into the alloy through the paint and reacting with the huge amounts of brake dust that the car produces. So I'm searching around for an extremely good wheel refurb place. I'm told these wheels are worth £1k each! Don't know if that's true but it was a Scooby specialist who told me. I have visited one wheel place but he only had one colour of gold and it was much darker than the 22B wheels. A friend showed me his refurbed wheels which cost £40 per wheel but the laquer finish was all orange peel effect and he admitted he wouldn't take my wheels there. So, does anyone know of the best place for a perfect finish and who will have the correct Subaru colour of Gold? I'm in the Glasgow area. Ta Colin
  8. Hi Davie This will probably be a very silly question but can my 12 year old son help with the marshalling alongside myself. I didn't realise it was a non-spectator event and he has been looking forward to going to it for weeks since I mentioned it. It may not be possible for us to get there that early anyhow but I thought I'd ask the question.... Cheers Colin
  9. Thanks Kart Man I couldn't find the thread for some reason
  10. I'm wanting to spectate at the rally at Ingliston tomorrow but don't know if there are restrictions on who can get in to watch as its not advertised as a spectator event. I saw a thread on here a few weeks ago with some people thinking about going. Is it easy to get in? Any replies greatly appreciated!
  11. There are now a selection of pictures of the car on my website: http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/impreza-wrx-for-sale.htm Cheers Colin
  12. Thanks for all the info Grant. I'm really wanting 2 things out of a remap I suppose. I want more power and torque of course but I would also really like to get it remapped to 97/98 RON fuel (after owning an Sti2 for 3.5 years, I'm a bit fed up with sourcing and filling up with octane booster all the time!). Can Andy F do that using the Apexi Power FC?
  13. Thanks for the welcomes guys Looks like its Andy F then unless there's any other suggestions.... His website looks good and the information comes across well. Colin
  14. As my other thread says, I now have my dream Scoob, a 22B So my trusty 5 door 1995 STi2 is now up for sale. It is silver with the nice big STi wings on the back. Quite rare - I've never seen another one on the road. I have owned the car since Nov 2001. It had 29k on the clock and now has about 80k. Exhaust is fully decatted with Hayward and Scott downpipe. The system is actually the first system Black Diamond produced for the Scoob when they started in exhausts back in about 2001 (I am 'in the trade') - they don't do them any more. The sound is very nice without being too loud in the car. I found out recently that it has been chipped. The previous owner didn't seem to know this and he purchased it directly from the importer, so it must have been done in Japan. Between the chip and the exhaust, I believe the power is around 290 bhp. Combined with the close-ratio quick-shift gearbox that you get in these cars it really flies. I have used Optimax or BP SUL combined with octane booster (Millers or NF) since I got the car as did the only previous UK owner. Brake discs are Tarox 40 groove G88 discs all round combined with one of their latest compound pads (Corsa Plus) on the front and Corsa pads on the rear. Bodywork is in very good nick as is the interior. Suspension is KW Variant 3 coilovers. I'm looking for £5,600 for the car with the KW's on and £5,000 without (I have the original STi struts and springs). This really has been a brilliant car and I shall be sorry to see it go. Colin
  15. Wondered where all the Scottish folk had gone from Scoobynet and found you all here last week. Anyhow, at last I have myself a 22B! I'm looking into getting it remapped and am wondering where the best place in Scotland is to go. I've seen recommendations for Andy Forrest - are there any others I should consider too? The exhaust is already done with decat downpipe - all 3 inch. I am south of Glasgow. Cheers Colin
