  9. I no longer go to Santa Pod for the reasons below. Facilities There is one road in and the same one out. Invariably this means I join a lengthy queue when I arrive but it is worse when I leave. To get to the stand you have to cross through the endless line of cars waiting to go down the “strip”. The tarmac is filled full of deep craters, like someone’s set off a cluster bomb or two. Because of the route in, you’re led past the public car park/camping area which is grass. This very quickly turns into a mud bath and is kindly spread by the twats (more of them later) all over the road. So by the time you actual arrive at the SIDC stand, your pride and joy looks like an unloved piece of sh*t. Yes I know you may encounter some bad weather on the way there, but it’s somewhat disheartening if you’ve made it all the way there after spending several hours/days getting your car ready, with it still looking pretty decent, only for it to be ruined in two minutes. Rain water is one thing, mud splattered everywhere is a pain. Of course you can then clean your car once you arrive. Ahh, but hold on a minute, there’s only one tap at Santa Pod. They place someone on bog duty to make sure you don’t use any of the washroom taps as well. At Silverstone there’s more taps nearby than I can be bothered to count. Twats Santa Pod appears to be a breeding ground for them to congregate. I’ve personally sat in a queue while some moron in a Corsa coming the other way is having some sort of contest with his mates about how long he can spin his wheels for. Great, except previous to that he’s just left the aforementioned quagmire that was previously known as the car park/camping area. Cheers. I now have crap sprayed down the length of my car along with all the stones and debris you’ve chucked up. And when I finally decide to leave, I find out one of them has had an accident on the way out. They can’t even make it out of the site before they put their car into the hedge. Obviously this delays your exit, that’s counted in lunar cycles anyway, even more. Value for Money It’s the most expensive venue that I (used to) attend. Circa £20 I believe. If it’s rains badly (please, we’re in Britain) then that’s it as far as track action goes. In the meantime there’s only so much of watching drift cars and that stunt guy that I can stomach. There’s not much in the way of traders that attend here either. You do get a “rain off” voucher for £6-£7, so it’s cheaper the next time you venture back, if indeed you want to. Apart from that, Santa Pod is a great place. The SIDC guys and gals make up for its short comings, but as a Show and Shine venue, for me at least, it’s a non starter.

On the side of the Promenade des Anglais heading into Nice Typical, you head to the top floor of a car park in Nice to park up safely and what do you end up sharing the whole floor with? Parked up in Cannes. Some other sights at Cannes Common as muck over there Not another one Up to Monaco via the Moyen Corniche as the Grand Corniche was closed Into Monaco and a quick stop at Casino Square and a couple of other well known sights Undertaken by a moped. The Historic Grand Prix was on this weekend. I didn't go to see it, but there was free access to the pit area for some pictures of some golden oldies After a quick bacon cheeseburger in Stars and Bars Head out of Monaco to Sospel
  12. Yes you can get them. They were fitted to the Spec C RA-R in 235/40-18 size. As for where to get them from, you could try Litchfields for a start. Be warned however they won't be cheap. Think along the lines of what Alistair Darling has just lent the Bank of England as a pointer.

  17. I think, but I stand to be corrected, that the cap on the header tank is a different rating to the one on the actual radiator. Thus is you put say an STI cap on the radiator it might upset the balance of things? Aftermarket caps like the STI one have a higher rating. IIRC if you increase pressure, you increase the boiling point of water. Obviously hoses need to up to the job etc. I'm sure someone better qualified (ie they passed their Physics exam or work in the trade) can confirm.
