Greetings all, just to let u know that I wont be joining you for a while. A nice chap in an Evo travelling in the opposite direction decided he was going to overtake 2 cars failing to notice me coming towards him. This resulted in a less than desirable head on situation ! No serious injuries but the Scooby looks pretty shagged. Not sure if we ll be seing her again - waiting to hear if shes a write off [] Still, the air bags work well and Id say the Evo came off worse [] I ll keep u posted John

Thanks Pete, suspected it might be the fuelling/boost needs remapping but was hoping to put it off for a little while after decatting. Ah well looks like plenty of OT at work this month. I m a fully paid up member of the SIDC but not with you CADS yet as I m still to make it to a meet. Next month hopefully [] What power increase have you had from ur remap as I did nt know what power u were running beforehand ?

And someones pinched my little picture since the website moved

Hi guys just had my decat pipes fitted too. So what causes the pops and bangs from a decat ? Not had any from mine yet. Power is a noticeable improvement but have got a bit of hesitation under full throttle ie. turbo kicks in - stops - then kicks in again. Anyone else had this problem after a decat ? Wondered if it might settle down once the engine management gets used to it. Jon

Thanks Jak, lip spoiler s definately not a P1 as I ve (just about) got one of those on mine. Looks like the previous owners had a disagreement with a few kerbs in his time Thinking of replacing it at some point. As for ur spoiler and mirrors I d have them painted if they were mine but thats just me being a colour coding freak J -

Nice bit of Pink there Jak Any ideas what type of boot and lip spoilers you ve got on her ? Looks good. John -
Hope you like grey then. Personally I d save £1500 and get an STI or try the WRX with PPP upgrade when that comes out.

Greetings all, made it back on to the forum eventually. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit to Christopher Neils. Nice to meet some of you (that could be interpreted badly) and put faces to names. Thanks to Jeff for the event. What a nice bloke. Obviously enjoyed the run out in the 06 STI. Face lift gets the thumbs up from me. I was expecting to be blown away by the performance a little more considering the 2.5 engine but plenty of tuning potential there. Would be interested in trying one with PPP when that comes out next month. Jeff was saying power is rumoured to be around the 330 brake mark. As already relayed by Andy I found the ride was certainly smoother than the old STI and made my Classic feel like a track racer over pot holes (does have a 5 year age gap tho). Whether this has had a negative effect on the handling I ll leave to be answered by other STI drivers, but it felt pretty good to me. Stearing is certainly lovely and direct. Not overly impressed with the central diff. grinding away at low speeds but maybe you d get used to that. Anyway there s no doubt its still an incredible car. Look forward to seeing you again at a future meet. John -
Called in at Tesco in Macclesfield today on the off chance they might have some 99RON in but they re selling normal 95RON and 97RON. Anyone ever tried Tesco s 97RON for a worthwhile stint ? Any ideas who makes it for them ?

I meant Steve@CAS. Sorry Steve. Doh !

Simon@CAS suggested checking the handbrake shoes too. Apparently have a tendency to stick as they get worn so maybe they need replacing. Was going to ask where they were on the car but you ve just answered my question for me. I ll try a clean and a lube to start and see how we go. Fingers will probably drop off in this weather Thanks all

lol ! Yes thanks for that guys. I think I ll give Steve at CAS motorsport a try rather than the oil. Brings back memorys of my driving lessons many years ago when someone suggested a similar solution to my driving instructors squeeky brakes

Thanks Little H, probably wont bother with a sub as not too worried about head banging bass. Might go with an amp tho for a bit of extra quality. Wont be able to make Sundays meet as working again (groan), but hoping to get my ass down in the new year All the best John

Hi again all really picking ur brains this week. Has anyone experienced any problems with the rear brakes sticking on, after being parked up overnight ? I ve had similar things on other cars after being out in the wet (obviously pads rusting on to discs) but never as bad as on the scoobys. After coming back from holiday and the scooby having not been driven for 3 weeks the brakes were welded on so much that the rear wheels were just dragging across the ground without rotating to begin with ! Is this a typical scooby trait ? I m assuming that its not a caliper siezing as both rears are the same. Worth changing the pads to a different make/compound or are they much of a muchness ? Advice much appreciated Cheers John

No Halfords was nt at the top of my list Rasher but thanks for the tip Not after anything fancy just a good basic system (head unit and speakers plus the wiring). Rear speakers especially are pretty shocking (some make I ve never heard of) and I think there might be a break in the wiring to the left rear. Incidentely is it worth fitting a seperate amp ie. does it improve sound quality or just the volume capability ? Thanks guys
