  1. I'm running one of those chips in my '95 WRX and am really pleased with it. Mine is set to 1.1bar, but ESL has different versions for STi's/WRX's etc. so it's best to have a chat with them to see what they advise. Also, I'm not sure if they do one for the Version 4.... 1.42bar sounds alot to me, has it been mapped in this country? If it was mapped in Japan, there's a strong possibility that the map won't suit UK fuel, unless you're using octane booster?
  2. Crikey. No cage either?!?! That roof came in pretty hard!!!
  3. What are you lot talking about, they're ALL cool!!! Time for me to get some polystyrene and start "modding"!!![]
  4. Yup you can do away with the boost solenoid if you fit a mechanical boost controller. As a non-techie I'd be tempted to swap out the solenoid with one that you know works first, just incase you end up masking another problem by fitting the boost controller. What year of car is it? Might be worth doing a search through the forums for similar symptoms, just in case it is something else causing the problems. (edit: sorry saw the year of car in your sig - could it be your dump valve? try replacing it with the original re-circ)
  5. Glad you like it, just used gif animator and a paint program.
  6. Kola cubes by the quarter..... Half-penny chews. Bazooka Joe bubble gum.
  7. AHHHHH!!!!! Where's it gone!!!??? I feel your pain. No more extreme sports, rallying, late night comedy, used car roadshow, etc. There was a petition to keep it on Freeview, obviously didn't work.
  8. Hey there. Good choice, one of the best from the lineup in my opinion. I believe that 1/4 mile times are in the region of the low 13's, with a 0-60 of around 4.5 secs. Hopefully some Type-R owners can verify this as it's really difficult finding performance figures for the imports, but I reckon that's a good starting point. Hope you find a good one!
  9. Welcome!!! Budget of £6k should be fine for an early STi, but I can't see you getting an Evo IV for that.... I'd suggest going for an original car if you can find one, avoid the ads that say "450bhp, thousands spent".[]
  10. I usually wave, even if it's half out the side/ back window because I only just noticed that it was a Scooby. People must think I'm having a fit.....
  11. That's mad. Watched the Travis Pastrana Crusty video last year, almost made me give up riding. I think he's rallying on the Subaru team now....
  12. Glad that co-driver was a good swimmer. Absolutely mad.
  13. Smokey or what?!?!?! 8.95 at 163? Is it me or is that not particularly quick for a dragster? I guess it's pretty good for a diesel though......
  14. 93-94 were 240ps. Here's a link for basic trim etc. Link 0-60 is a bit of a grey area, I reckon somewhere between 5 and 6 seconds from a hard launch. Top speed is another unknown, probably in the region of 140mph. (when derestricted) The WRX are good cars, some would argue that they're better than the STi's for reliability even though they don't have quite the same performance. The WRX is much less sensitive to the lower grade fuel that we get here, and are much less likely to go "pop" when run on SUL, Optimax or Supermarket 99RON. Welcome to the forum!
  15. Loads of Disturbed, System of a Down and old Ozzy (70's through to early 90's). That's for the relaxed driving .... When it gets hectic, I like a bit of Bros & Aqua.
  16. Just been "quoted happy" myself, from Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels. He was able to knock a large chunk off my renewal quote, so I took out the policy straight away. Nice bloke to talk to, too. Knows alot about his Scoobies!!! Well worth a call if you want a decent quote!
  17. HA HA HA!!!! So true!!! (Apart from the end bit) PMSL at 28. Surely everyone's done that!
  18. Interesting. I've always viewed the Impreza as a purely functional car. As far as comparing your Scooby to other motors, I wouldn't bother. You can't really explain to any sane person that you've just been single-minded in your car decision, and decided not to have a "compromise" tin box. Yup, the Semtex C4 (like the Chicken Paxo before it) is very adequate. You know what they say.... Jack of all trades is usually master of none.
  19. Common problem with those engines, I'm afraid. You may want to check the big end and piston crown on #3 while it's appart. Look on the bright side though. You still have full rack and pinion steering and the coolest reclining seats. And it looks the biz with the roof "down". If you need any help with the rebuild, please p.m. me. I'm a wizard with those engines (I sucessfully transplanted one into a helicopter, once).
