Advice required: does my car need a dump valve?

Alright chaps, Just a quickie re the above. I put my motor in the Autotrader lastweek and on a daily basis I'm receiving 2 or 3 calls from agencies saying that they've had interest in my car, give us 80 quid and we'll forward your details onto the interested party. In addiotion to that they've been waffling on about how they will provide the buyer with finance so I'm quaranteed to get my asking price etc etc etc.... So far I've told them I'm not interested, but suddenly wondered if I should perhaps hear them out. So my questions to you are, has anyone got any experience of these people, and are they gen-up, or is it just a way of them making a quick buck? Cheers in advance. Thomo.

Hi Johnny, Cheers for the message, yeah just got the nod from the solicitor that our offer has been accepted and that so thought I should start the ball rolling with selling the car. Selling up cause I wanna free up the cash, but also would need to park it on the street and I just don't fancy that. So if you hear of anyone looking for a new(ish) Scoob going for a good price, then send them this way m8! The leg / ankle is getting there. Back to the hosp a week 2moro hopefully to find out when I'll be back on my feet. Out for now man. Thomo.

Alright Spooks, I see you've got 'Scotty T' listed...... was in the reserve list but has moved to no. 24. No sure if that's meant to me or not (?), but to clarify if it is, I can't make it..... broke my leg 2 weeks ago playing footy so the scooby won't be moving for 12 weeks!!!! Gutted!! and to make it worse - yes I missed all that snow!!! Out for now. Thomo. (Scott Thomson)

Alright m8. I've just been down this road only a few weeks ago After trying the obvious tyre fitters etc (who were totallly usless) I took the advice of a few guys off here and battered a socket onto the nut with a big @$$ hammer.... sounds terrible but worked a treat! Not sure what you do about the nut once it's off tho.... i.e. how d'you get it out the socket. I had to buy a replacement key for the other 3 existing nuts and then decided to buy a new set of 4 locking nuts. 30 quid later I was back to normal! HTH. Thomo.
-
..... nice to see your motor lookin as clean as mine the day at stenny!!! Thomo.
-
<< I used a hammer and a chisel to turn mine when it happened to me >> I almost went down that route lastnight..... think I should have enough space around the nut to get a chisel on it. Before the nut and key gave up the ghost I'm sure I losened the locking nut slightly and so hopefully will come off without too much hassle - might look out an old chisel tonight! Thomo.
-
<< watch those rims though!!!! >> Now that you've said that I'll probably make a dug's dinner of it!!
-
<< Get a socket that doesnt quite fit over the nut, and then with the aid of a BIG hammer make it fit >> Sounds like this is the way forward!! Cheers guys.
-
<< were the nuts on the car when u got it or did u put them on????? just wondering if anyone else may have a key that fits >> Alright m8, na they're the standard nuts that were on the car when I got it. But wouldnae fancy trying someone else's key incase it gets damaged. Tomo.

Alright folks!! Managed to bust one of my locking wheel nuts (and key) yesterday and now I'm stck with a mangled nut on the car.... went to a well known tyre fitter for some advice (hoping he'd sort me out there and then ) but they were totally useless and told me to go to Halfords for a locking wheel nut remover, went down and got what they told me, only for the useless kn0b to turn round and tell me he wouldnae be able to do today....... probably something to do with the fact it was 15.15 and they closed at 16.00!! Anyway, had a look at it myself only to find the remover doesn't fit..... so back to Halfords to be told that's all they've got. Kinda thought it was a bit strange that he never asked about the size of the nut!! I've been on the phone to Subaru this morning for a new key and replacement nut.... but anyone got any good suggestions as to how I'm gonna get the current one off? Cheers guys. Thomo.
