Hi Subarstar, I had a Forge VTA DV .. Had it on my car for about 4 months then took it off .. MUCH better . Pros : Sounds good at the beginning ..then annoying if ur having a blast along country roads when ur on and off the power all the time with the DV going off every 30 secs or so .. Cons : Can cause a good deal less mpg running rich ( was getting 20 on ..29 taken off ) and Im not sure about Baileys .Ive heard they're not so good on scoobs Hope this helps , Steve

Hi Soob, Yup .. £ 1580 .. ... thanks anyway . As I said in the 2nd post , I tried everybody quoting PPP , Springs + strutbrace with 5yrs NCD .. Including Elephant, Dir Line , Admiral , Nor Union, Privelidge , AA , KwikFit , Adrian Flux , Bell Direct , One Insurance , More Than - who wont even insure New AgeScoobs ! , the ones recommended on SIDC earlier , even ones in the back of Max Power ( ) . Cheapest was £1380 thro Privelidge .. I spent 2 days phoning round , Cheers Del , BTW , I'll be back .. Steve -
Well peeps , the day has come ..

Dougster ... << Blx. You aint tried hard enough IMHO. >> Oh really ! Let me see now ... Phoned round EVERY SINGLE F*CKING INSURANCE COMPANY possible ( AND I DO MEAN EVERY COMPANY ! ) and the cheapest quote was £1380 ! Well f*ck me but I'm not made of money and not prepared to be have the ar*e ripped out of me with a £400 increase . I think it's just plain madness paying that and it's just not worth it . TBH Dougster I don't you have the right to say that ..It's all very well that you pay £600 but if you were in my shoes , I'm sure you would think twice , unless you're a fool , which you're not . << Underlying cause for sale? >> Yes .. the cost of insuring it ! << Don't frighten off everyone from scooby ownership m8! >> How am I ? I'm just stating that the cost of the insurance has forced me to get rid of my car .. that's all . I'm not going on about the threat of car-jacking , car theft , or anything like that ! .. which is what a lot of people post about the dangers of owning a scoob that we all know about . Steve -
Well peeps , the day has come ..

Anyway , thanks for your sympathy .. Didn't know the scoob could be so infectious . Cheers, Steve -

WARNING to all Liv. Vic policy holders ..
stephen_fergus2 replied to stephen_fergus2's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Well to keep everyone up to speed , was speaking to a Manager at LV today trying to get some sort of explanation out of them . I have been told time and time again that , point blank , they DO NOT insure modified vehicles and recon that it must be a training issue ie sales team telling u something when it's the complete opposite in reality . I have been told they will get back to me , but the decision cannot be reversed . LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR .. THE UNDERWRITERS OF THE COMPANY DO NOT INSURE MODIFIED VEHICLES . Now it may be different someone of the phone sales team telling u otherwise but I promise u , the actual underwriters call the shots and do not insure modded vehicles ! Steve -

Cheers Brian , Yup .. I've bored everyone there too with my story now .. . This is happening more and more . Well , the wagon is going on Friday . It was my first scoob , which I have looked after very well , loved driving it ( 25,000 miles in 1 year is proof ) .. and I will be very sad to see it go . As Arnie said " I'LL BE BACK " Cheers, Steve -
Also another Silver new C-Class Merc ending in SYR doing the rounds of A77 etc .. Was in at mates valet place and it was getting valeted .. looked like a nice new , normal C class until u flicked a wee switch inside and the wee blue lights behind the grill and alternating flashing h/lights come on .. Yes , that's right folks , our tax-payers money is going towards these buggers who cant be arsed washing their own cars Steve

Hey Smiddy .. Sorry to hear of this .. can't believe they've done this to you too ! I know this sounds bad but in a way feel relieved a bit that it's not all in my imagination or me . When u read this thread , it shows u what a f*cked up system this really is with just about everybody saying " I'm with L.V. , .. blah blah .. no problems with mods ." Once again sorry to hear of ur hastle . If its any help , Scratch here , suggested :NFU ,Northampton Office 01604 883726 who were very good and know their scoobs .. ( BTW thanks again Scratch ..) Im sure we are going to see more and more of this .. watch this space ! Oh , and BTW Smiddy , I've made a formal complaint with L.V. and am waiting for a response . Regards , Steve -
Hi , Looking to replace the Double Din unit in the Scoob WITHOUT going down the single Din route , is there any dissadvantages in buying a unit from America ie the FM radio not working ? I was looking at this .. Sony Double Din unit There doesn't seem to be any good outlets , pricewise , for Double Din units .. Any recommendations ? The reason I dont want to go down the Single Din route is I dont like the space left , and cant afford to fill it with something else !! Cheers , Steve
