I might have a contender for the worst, I've not got a mpg per tank but I know I average 35-37 miles every £20. But I know I've got a problem with the engine ATM gives me more reason to believe a spark plugs knackered

the flames were more like a flash bang grande, very similar to group a rally car flames. I'm thinking spark plugs too, will be seriously p***ed if the coil packs have failed again... cost me £500 for those + new plugs last time.

My poor scooby is under the weather, got hesitation/flat spots in every part of the rev range, running very rich, lumpy idle & feels down on BHP by at least 30-50%. Sure it's misfiring in a cylinder, going to book it with deano after January (killer month, MOT, TAX, Insurance.. going to leave me skint)

My noise is similar to tappets, and you can hear it through out the rev range no squeaking noises though. Leaking uppipes are very common on the classics though. A loose bolt is never good lol.

upipe blowing noise sounds very much like something more expensive deano diagnosed mine as uppipe as I too immediatly thought bottom end.

bottom end noise would be a very dead metal to metal noise. Have you checked the heat shields there prone to cracking and causing horrible noises At the rpm you mentioned. Failing that, you could have the problem that I currently have..... A blowing uppipe, makes a similar noise too. Hope its nothing too £££
