About Paul Caden

  1. << tried having it mopped-professionally >> Any recommendations for the Kent (Maidstone...ish) area?
  2. Has anybody successfully claimed for this on their insurance policy without it affecting their no claims bonus? My P1 was parked in a railway car park last summer where it was covered in brake dust from rail carriage brake drums. This has affected the paintwork lacquer by dulling it down considerably (it also feels very rough). The repair will have to be a complete respray and relacquer. Ouch!
  3. elephant.co.uk £570 fully comp on an 01 P1
  4. Thanks for the info guys. An update: I have decided that I like the P1 so much (and the resale values are rubbish!) that I am going to keep it and buy it lots of presents inc. uprated brakes, droplinks, new exhaust system, bumpsteer and geometry checks. After all that I will be looking to optimise the performance side. Speaking of performance, is the next rolling road day being considered and are any dates in the pipeline yet? I would be keen to attend the next one...
  5. I'm leaning towards keeping it now. I love the 2 door version and it would be hard to go back to a 4 door... So, about up-spec'ing... What do you recommend as a starter (I know, how long is a piece of string etc etc)? Main priority I guess is power and getting the best out of the car without going stupid (definitely don't want the car to look like it is on steroids!). Next priority, it would have to be getting the car to look good (see previous note on steroids etc) Any ideas gratefully received.
  6. Hmmm! Perhaps I will keep it and get it spec'ed up. It will cost me a lot less than a new car...
  7. << Not what you want to read but from the Publishers of CAP Black book, this is their opinion... Vehicle - Subaru Impreza Special edition - P1 4wd 2DR 2OO1 Y - 14K Cap clean value only - 14350 Cap retail value only - 15850 Hope this helps in some way... It is a guide that dealers / Auctions use. Good luck, Nige >> Blimey! That is quite low but as you rightly say it's worth whatever someone will pay for it. Thanks for getting the info...
  8. I am wavering on turning in my P1 in favour of a WR1 (yes, I have found a new, unregistered one!) but I am having difficulty in putting a price on the car. The spec is: - Aug 2001 (Y) - 14 000 miles - FSH (every 6 months without fail!) - ScoobySport exhaust - Excellent condition Can anybody suggest a private retail price and a trade-in price?

  10. << Hi Paul & welcome to KentScoobies , would you like to go on our mailing list? >> Oh, go on then!
  11. Paul (ex-lurker) signing in: MY01 P1, Scoobysport exhaust and erm! that's all...
  12. << I have a 2001 P1 and I noticed that the rev counter has started 'bouncing' on idle when the engine is warm. The revs would literally drop off until the engine very nearly stalls and then it picks back up again. There is also noticable engine 'stuttering' on hard acceleration. The car is going in to the local dealership for two days for them to try to diagnose the problem but I thought I would post a question on here first to see if there have been others with the same problem. Anybody else had this? >> Got the Beast back last night from the dealers - they replaced the boost solenoid. It seems better but I need to do a longer run than 1/4 mile from the dealer to home on the A20 to check it out Anyone recommend a good rolling road nearby (East Malling) that can do a full performance test and diagnostic?
  13. << maf? >> ??? p.s. try Elephant.co .uk for an insurance quote - I run a 2001 P1 and pay £700 fully comp
