Evening chaps,
After being tucked away since the first snowfall at the start of December I finally took the P1 out for a run today.
Whilst it was laid up I fitted:
Ctek trickle charger
nice new AF Noble number plates
new OE black stars grill badge - much better!
new boot liner clips
numbered carbon plaque
Took the car 150 miles on the in-direct road to St Andrews with the lady formerly my girlfriend and now my wife. What a great feeling to be out in the car again. Roads were not too bad with only a few sections that were covered with grit residue and pot holes. Got caught out and ended up on a bad b road which had a huge amount of standing water and had to go through a water splash that McRae would have loved! The better half seemed to get some perverse enjoyment out of watching me grimace when I saw what was coming and then decide to not turn back and go through it lol Oh well i'll just have to get up early tomorrow and give it a clean. On my travels I saw a nice blue hatch in Glenrothes and an equally tidy black blobeye sti in Dundee.
Waiting on my February pay day where it will be fitting:
Ninja 100 cell d/p and 2"5 H&S centre and rear
Cotton green filter, 3 port bcs, Walbro 255 pump and new MAF
Full service at SW Motorsport
and finally...... Andy F ecutek map. It's taken me 10 months but im getting there!
I will end this ramble by posting the obligatory only pic that got taken, apologies for the dirt!

That looks awesome, look forward to seeing the finished result

Probably the best thread I've ever read! Thanks for sharing

Very nice indeed, I just wanted to know as your car was flying along. I remember watching the old CK1 vids (Stef from Scoobynet back in 2001 or so) and he drove the car very hard but it didn't seem to pile on the speed like yours. I'm aiming to get mine up to 320 or 330 with an andyf map early in the new year
-
That was brilliant you managed to get such a clear track then. What spec/power is your car running?
-
Been watching the vid again- was it a Sunday you were there? Track seems very quiet, were you on a special day or just lucky?!
-
Well done! Loving the video- you were certainly giving it some. Car sounds great
-
Have a look on p1woc. There is always a couple of good ones for sale over there.
-
Cheers guys. Will order one in the morning
-
Anyone use one of these? Thinking about getting a ctek one. Any thoughts? Am I right in thinking that they will also charge a flat battery?
Cheers chaps

SW Motorsport
Another vote for SW here

Definitely. I was at Knockhill on Saturday and was having a natter with Steve about your car. It is going to be a cracker. Enjoy Kames at the weekend, I can't make it unfortunately. Next event I can get to I'll drop you a PM to see if you are heading.

Nice pics and a fitting setting! Both cars look great. Your P1 looks really similar to mine with the silver 18s. 22B vents and carbon mirrors are sweet. Must be almost fully run in now....

Well the yen exchange rate doesn't seem to have had an effect on the price of a new Evo
-
If that had a spoiler I'd like that- a lot. Price needs to be £5k cheaper though
-
2nd that CSL comment. I want one badly- a depreciation proof classic.
-
Scary price! I'm sure someone will pay that for it but for me it's too much for a non special edition. I would hate to guess what the depreciation would be on that?! Down to £20k after 12 months?
For £32k I'd get a used RS4 or E92 M3
-
Nice scoop! I thought these were US only. Looks good although I think the bbs wheels make a big difference to both this and the hatch. Not sure I'd like it as much on 17s.

Hi mate. So far so good, really happy with it. Ive changed my mind on something already tho haha
The car feels perfect, very smooth, quiet and the engine really wants to go, done 540miles so far, so not long now until mapping.
Whats the hold up with your mapping?
Sounds great, bet you can't wait to have it run in. Im getting married in 6 weeks so cash is at a premium!
I've got ngk plugs, 3 port bcs, walbro, cotton green filter and a H&S 2.5" system tucked away
Once my back account has recovered I'll be down to SW to get those parts fitted prior to a trip to Andy F.

yeah noticed taht they have been getting some good write ups, think evo or autocar gave them a high rating too.
any good in the wet? dont suppose they have any ambient temps on the side wall? i've currently got yoko a046s and not good in cold weather or damp - but they do say dont use below 5 deg C
cheers.
Yeah they are fine in the wet. Seem to be a very good tyre. I'll check the sidewalks tomorrow and let you know
-
That looks great Dan! How's the car now you have it back?
Not got mine mapped yet.....!
-
I have a set in 18" on my P1. Came on the car when I got it. I originally thought they were crappy budgets but have done a bit digging on the web and they have good reviews. A lot of BMW guys in particular seem to be using them.
I have never found them wanting on my car but obviously I haven't tried anything else yet!
-
Car looks great in the sprint pics. I prefer the sti 6 spoiler but I dont suppose you changed it for looks!
-
Yes spoilt for choice. Played Kingsbarns myself- great course. Didn't shoot anywhere near a 75 though. That's good golf round there!
2011 is officially underway!

Cheers mate. I like the A91 to St Andrews and then the coastal route to Crail and Anstruther. Just explore about there, the roads are fantastic. I'm sure some others will be able to remember the specific road names.
