About mmalbon

  1. Some more info relevant here, quite a good article actually, although missing hard facts as usual ...
  2. Quick question about the flamer kit... It ignites unburned fuel in the exhaust pipe, right? Do you have have to change your engine management to shove unburned fuel down the exhaust pipe on overrun, or does it just do that anyway? Also, doesn't that knacker your cat, so is it only recommended on de-cat systems?
  3. I filled my STi Type UK on Tesco 99 and it ran really well. After all, all fuel comes from the same refineries, all they do for stuff like BP Ulitimate ad Shell Optiax is add additives, so you can expect long term gains as they contain stuff like cleaning agents (remember the pictures of the valves in the EVO article after using various different types of fuel?). The best thing to use for cars like scooby turbos is the highest octane fuel available as the engine management can make use of it. Having said all that, I've no idea whether Tesco 99 is actually 99 octane - it may well just be a marketing name for regular UK 97 octane super unleaded fuel like most other garages have.
  4. Did you buy it to match your hair? [] Is that the Horseshoe Inn on the old A500 Newcastle Road? BTW I saw someone that fits your descriprion on the new A500 Shavington bypass, at the middle roundabout, was that you?
  5. I'll keep an eye out for you both - I should be able to spot your cars [], and ScoobyBird when I'm over in Stoke... And I'll keep you all posted if I go for the backbox - I'll probably have to sell my other car first though []
  6. Yes, I think so. I waved at someone in a fully stickered-up new age impreza on Saturday at the cross roads of Rope Lane and Nantich Road. Your car looked sweet by the way! Mine's the STI Type UK that always needs washing and has a baby seat in the back (ruins the WRC image I know).
  7. Thanks for the replies. I'll try and come along to the Tatton do in August, I'm sure it won't be too be hard to talk scooby owners into demo'ing their exhausts [] The car is an 02 WRX STi Type-UK, totally standard. The backbox is oval and has WRSport engraved on it, it was on the car when I bought it from the dealer, so I guess that makes it the one you can buy separate from the PPP.
  8. Just a quick note to say hello to everyone and aska question. I know there are posts on this forum relating to both these back boxes, I just wondered if anyone has replaced a WRSport backbox with a Scoobyworld Afterburner Vortex backbox. If anyone has any knowledge about differences in sound or even performance gains to be had I'd love to hear their opinion. Cheers, Martin
