Some really good shots there John, wish I brought my camera now but I must admit I was having too fun in the rain!

The HV20 is a not a HDD by the way, it's a HDV. Or are you giving another tip!
-
As Cal say these tings are great for a bit of in car footage, I still own a PC100 Sony and it's great although it's playing up a bit now so I bought a new Canon HV20! However be warned the HV20 is awful for use as a in car camera as the lens shakes too much when screwed to a camera mount, apart from that it is staggering. Cheers, Rob.

Thanks John for organising another excellent SIDC trackday. Haven't been on track for a while but soon got back into the swing of things, track behaviour was excellent as usual for a SIDC organised event. Could only make it for half a day but still drank a tankfull of fuel!! Excellent pictures posted by everyone, tis a change for me to be behind a wheel rather than a camera, anyway anymore pictures of the blue STi bugeye SV02 especially down seat curves or duffus as it used to be called would be appreciated. Here's a helpfull tip don't use a Canon HV20 as an in car camera cos for some wierd reason the lens shakes too much, should of brought my trusty old Sony PC100 with me, doh! Rob.

Run from Aberdeen to Scottish National SIDC day @ Alford
Rob_D replied to kloon's topic in Scottish Scoobies
John, do we know if we are getting any professional timing equipment for Alford? Hopefully should be able to make this event, if you need any help setting this up give us a shout. -
I've also had my STi service at Fiskens and can't fault them for anything. Top staff and service!

Serg, Winter tyres are better in winter for two reasons 1. The polymers they use allow the rubber to remain more flexible as the temperatures drop. Summer tyres go harder and their grip reduces below roughly 5 deg C. This gives better grip on ice as well. 2. Tread pattern/blocks. The blocks are designed to move around more providing better grip and allowing snow/ice to fall out of the treads instead of being compacted in. The cost of a set is around £320, I have Nokain WR's on mine for 3 winters now and still have 8mm of tread left (started off with 10mm), these will be good for at least another 5 winters or so. Think about the long term use then the cost seems small, however they are worth every penny if it stops you having an accident. Rob.

Simple answer there, winter tyres! People think just because they drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle that they have an major advantage over other cars in the snow, you might have an advantage starting off and slight inclines but because the tyres are wide you are eventually going to lose grip then your in the same boat as everyone else, four wheel drive or not! Up in Aberdeenshire I would strongly recommend a set, and as most of the winter tyres are an all year round tyre there's no panic in removing them. Rob.

John, that is indeed very sad news to hear, Tim was such a nice guy and we had many good days out at knockhill and Alford. Are thoughts are with his family and friends.
-
John, glad you made the switch, now u know what we've been saying for the past few years about winter tyres! Just need more snow now!! Doh.
-
How about £40 for the wheel? Rob.
-
Have you a rough idea what price your looking for the steering wheel? Whereabouts are you based? Rob.

Have left my number on your voicemail at work.

Mark, I run 225/45/17 Nokians on my Sti because I don't have any choice but they are fine. Yes skinny tyres are better but I don't think 10mm will make much differance.
-
Edited size above as I think Derek could be right about the standard WRX tyre size of 215/45/17.
