About CBR_Si

  1. It turned out not to be too serious after all, thank goodness! Something, maybe a stone, had flown up and 'nicked' the auto box's oil filter. So oil had leaked out, and as such under cornering the components weren't lubricating right causing the problem. Big up to Westaways, 1 hr labour charged at 30 mins :-) thanks for the web addy too
  2. thanks guys, looks like a trip to the dealers then
  3. Hello all, I haven't posted here for a while as I have a 2.5 auto legacy estate now. I've looked on the net but can't find a legacy site as good as this is for impreza's. Anyway, its a W reg and developed an odd fault and thought I'd see if anyone has any ideas before we have to take it to westaways where we got it from. In a nutshell, when you go through a roundabout or pull away from a junction, sometimes (deffo not all the time) it loses drive and the revs shoot up then it 'hooks up' again and drives as normal. If it were a manual its almost as if you were slipping the clutch, or in a forward drive if the wheels were spinning then gripping. odd. Any ideas? cheers, Si :-)
  4. Hello again! I have recently moved to Northamptonshire. My stepdad kindly turned my subaru round on his drive to let another car out; but being an old git he managed to collide with a fence post when reversing on and this resulted in a 'fold' behind the n/s rear wheel arch and 2 long swirly scratches This makes my scooby look so I wonder who can be trusted in this area (Wellingboro/Rushden). I'm thinking of a respray to a different colour at the same time (I had a dream the other night, scary huh! Well I dreamed that I dropped the car off to be un-dented, and I said 'make it look a bit nicer'; when I got back it had a cool spoiler above the back window, lush alloys and a metallic black with silver speckles paint job!).....(maybe that was the sidc dark side again?) help me before I go insane
  5. Well, I wanted to post a message here. But because I hadn't logged in for so long I couldn't remember my login details. I thought the problem was my password. But oh no it was the _ ! It has taken about 10 attempts over the course of a week, and I had literally written out an email to admin...and just b4 I pressed 'send' I thought I'd give it one last go and tried my username with a _ ..... and it worked! I think maybe it was just a ploy by the computer that it wouldn't allow me to remember until I'd written an email....... so maybe there is a darkside to sidc forum?
  6. bloomin dear do aint it?! I think that in fairness, as my car is 10 years old and got 103000 miles on the clock I can expect things to wear out. However it does make a p/ex against a new bike seem ever more appealing!
  7. Well what can I say? Ordered a new starter motor from DMS here in S****horpe and collected it yesterday, but it was too dark to fit it. This morning, took the old one off eventually and its completely different to the AE components one that was supplied!! Back to the shop with old and new in my hands, and the new one was the 'correct' one according to the blokes catalogue; so he's taken the part number off the old one to cross-reference with the suppliers on Monday which means Tuesday at least before it comes.... So in the last month the exhaust has broken, and the starter motor packed in. What next?
  8. I dont understand how if just the rear part of your car was in the lane how he couldn't get through ? Or is it a special lane where you're from for bikes? Anyhow, there is no doubt that guy is an ar5ehole, but I think its objectionable that you are calling all bikers this. As a biker, and a trucker, I see many many incidents by car drivers every single day but I don't call all car drivers sr5eholes .....
  9. Had the RAC out to tow-start the cage this evening; and diagnosed a knackered starter motor, as the last few days its been slow to fire. Anyhow, is there a big price difference between a proper subaru starter motor and a pattern one? And (poor grammer I know but hey) does anyone know where I can get a pattern one from in S****horpe or close by without having to order one? Thanks Simon
  10. dont tar all bikers with the same brush please! In 10 years of biking and about 100k miles I have never ever done anything like that, not even knocked a wing mirror accidently while filtering... There was no need for that bozo to do that though
  11. ok, thanks guys - i'll get someone to look at it this weekend
  12. last night i was careless enough to catch the car on the gatepost, got a couple of scratches, not very deep about 20cm long - is T Cut good enough to mend it or do i need some kind of paint stick? tia Simon
