  1. Alright Mate,

I done this on my bugeye WRX about 2 months ago, removed the resonator and took a cold air feed from down behind the foglight via a 100mm tumble dryer hose.....

Was pretty easy to do (bout 1 hr) and the difference is noise is defo noticeable.... Bit of induction roar and a nice whoosh from the OE dump valve altho its not too loud....

BHP wise i don't know, i have a green filter and maybe between the two it adds a bit but nothing the butt dyno can judge, think it is recommended for remaps though as the standard intake can be very restrictive....

    HTH

  2. TBH i'm not sure which one it is, i'm assuming its just the manifold to cooler one although i don't actually know what size that is...

What hose is upgraded as part of the prodrive pack?

Anyone with a bug WRX done this, if so do you know the diameter of the hose?

  4. Gutted for you Fee, can vividly think of that horrible sinking feeling when you first notice the damage.... makes me sick!

Can't quite grasp what motivates these people, surely if they are decent car thieves they wouldn't be trying to get in the car wi brute force, would expect them to be a bit better unless its just kids wanting a quick car for a joyride......

Difficult to think of any way round it, fair enough a lock up would be more secure but whats the point in having a car if you have to "travel" just to get to it...

Not much help but i hope you get it sorted somehow... hope you not too depressed!

  5. Ok got a response from AndyF....

Gave him my current spec, planned mods to which he suggested a couple of little changes (plug choice etc)

As for the decat he advised i should be fine running both up and down de-cats until map time.

As such i will be fitting my up and down-pipe in the next couple of weeks, i specifically said in the question will it be okay to run as normal including "on boost" so if he says so i'll believe him (not saying there is no risk and its his fault if anything goes wrong though!!)

  6. No worries, i'll wait on his answer before moving anyway, i've ordered the wrap and i'll pick up the gaskets just now anyway regardless, that way i can wrap and re-wrap my luvverly down-pipe ( [:D] ) to keep me happy in the meantime... lol

Graeme, you about tonight, i'm planning on popping over to Peter's to finally pick up my raffle win before he starts charging me storage!!

  7. Right, i've mailed AndyF who i will be getting to do my map for his advice, what he says goes....

If the parts have to sit in my house looking pretty until mapping time then so be it.. maybe i'm just being an impatient big wean that wil regret not waiting........ BUT I WANT MORE POWER NOW!!!

  8. Geez, this has kicked off!

I fully appreciate that a remap isn't just a "nice to have" however, i also believe that running with just my centre cat (de-cat up and downpipes) with a CEL fix for the downpipe and a resistor for the up-pipe will be ok on my WRX for now.

The main reason it causes issue on the STi is boost spike which is primarily due to the turbo, i've been assured and read in many places that the TD04 is unlikely to give this issue.

Going forward in the next 3-6 months i will be getting a remap, before this i want the headers ported, centre decat pipe and a new 255 fuel pump. The reason for this is safety and also that i know going for a decat will bring minimal gains in comparison to mapping suited to the mods....

In an ideal world (a richer one for me) i would be getting full decat, the fuel pump and a remap all in a couple of days but i can't afford it and i've read enough independent responses that say i should be fine with my current setup..... I don't drive the car that hard, not saying i'm doing performance mods for no apparent reason but i can't think of anytime i have booted it for more than 5 mins in the last couple of months, always run on optimax, will have a boost gauge fitted etc etc.....

  9. Alrighty Folks,

Got a decat down-pipe and a decat up-pipe sitting ready to be fitted....

As i'm looking to have a bash myself do i -

A - Attempt to fit both, planning on getting my headers ported in a couple of months then get a remap.

B - Fit my down-pipe myself just now and wait to get the up-pipe down when the headers are getting done (by someone else)

I'm happy to have a bash at fitting both but i'm nervous that i shear a bolt or something, is the gain from swapping the up-pipe worth doing just now or should i wait and get it done later?

    Cheers

    Chris
