  1. Remember to turn off the "donor" car before you try and start the dead car to prevent a spike.

Connect the positives from battery to battery and connect the earth from the donor car to an earth point on the car and not direct to the battery.

    Bon Appetit

  2. thats such a beauty of a car Jamie, good job its not out a lot dont think i could resist the call of a classic if i saw it all the time!

what engines in the touraeg,3l v6 tdi?? and whatve you done to it -tempted by one myself

and Gav the old man was getting 34mg with his x5 twin turbo so definitely your driving style lol -though he did agree that he's heard 140mph is possible ;)

    Hello neighbour!

Yep, the Ra has only had two outings since October. I have walked further than it has driven!

The batmobile is the V6 TDI. Never thought it would be as quick as it turned out.

Its only had a remap, but a strong one you could say. Not been on a dyno but is around 300 at the flywheel.

Its Allys jeep, so there is no way I am going to change the exhaust or intercooler etc. Those days are over!

I would recomend these to anyone looking for a 4x4.

The only thing out there that we would consider is the Porsche Cayenne 4.8 turbo. However, I dont think it will happen unless my head falls off!!

  3. Best car over all had to be the Range Rover Vogue, however, as it spent many days being fixed it did become a pain.

So it got replaced with the Touareg which is an amazing bit of kit.

Massive power (now its been tuned, but fast in std form), massive brakes and handles like a car due to 20" rubber.

Still returns 28-30mpg and 23mpg with a big trailer or caravan on its back.

Faster than an Impreza (std one anyway), and only the AMG ML's and Cayenne Turbos can pass it. Had it a year and a half so that speaks volumes for us , keeping any car that long!

After that it has to be the RA, but I wouldn't class it as an every day car even if it is road going.

Its not practical, its noisey, only has two seats, hates the wet and costs a fortune to keep warm in the garage!!

However, still the best Impreza I have ever owned and it will only get better as its getting the Motec fitted when I get home from the next job.

Between Roger Clarke and Bob Rawle Im sure they will make it "interesting"

  5. A wee while back when I was bored....

Took the toy out of hiding for a run but ended up stuck on a tiny lump of snow. Diff locked and all the tricks to get it moving.

Got her back home and gave her a hot power wash down before sticking her in the garage with the heaters on until winter ends!

As for the Jeep. it wont get stuck! Still likes to dance though!

  7. I would consider a custom exhaust myself , if you get a quote will you post it to give me a rough price

Just to let you know, I wont be going with this lot as I have gone down the Roger Clark route.

You get exactly what it says on the tin with them :D

    Regards

  8. Will give them a call and see what they can do.

If they are mega bucks I will just do it myself. I would have expected around 200 bucks (ish) for a straight forward pipe with nothing fancy on the end.

Will let you know the outcome.

    Regards

  9. Looking for a 3" pipe to go from the downpipe to the back of the car with no silencers or the likes.

Are these guys still the best in the area to make this up and if so, whats the rough cost do you know?

    Thanks

  10. Hammy,

Make sure you have not put too much oil into the sump when your filled it up after the oil change.

It can often be drawn up into the induction side of the system and end up in the little boost controller on the inside of the wing (drivers side) causing it to reduce the boost and give erratic problems.

Its the valve with two hoses coming out of it. One is at 90 deg the other is straight. If you cant find it just follow the hose from the actuator on the turbo (also linked to the compressor side of the turbo)

Take it off and squirt something like brake cleaner in it and blow it with an airline...see how much crap comes out..its normally a lot.

Try that. I might be miles ooot...but worth a try anyway.

    Gid luck loon

  11. I know its asked all the time, but has anyone had any experience of these companies that carry out wheel refurbishment on site.

I have heard that somey are okay.

Arrive at your location, removed wheels from car, break the bead on the tyre then repair and prepare the wheel for its new coat of paint.

Stick it in their oven for a wee while then once its baked its popped back on the rim and re fitted. No need for balancing as the tyre has not moved on the rim mas the back bead is still stuck to the rim.

Anyway, Im not bothered about the balancing, Im more concerned about the quality of finish.

The current wheels have a polished look with a lacquer over the top. The lacquer has reacted for some reason and its flaking off.

There are some very small kerb marks ( thats the grounds that the warranty wont cover the replacement on!), so not a big job to smooth out any damage.

I just want a good coat of paint and lacquer applied.

Not interested in powder coating as I dont like the finish and it tends to get a bit flaky when the tyres come on and off.

Looked at Wicked wheels and spoke to the local guy. Sold it very well, but he would do as he wants the business.

Just wanted a second opinion before I make the move.

Think hes about £50 a corner.

Cheaper that 2K for a new set!!

Let me know if you have a story

  12. I presume everyone has the latest Colin Mcrae DVD that came out last week?

The title is "Colin McRae Rally legend"

A two and a half hour film with footage taken less than a month before he died.

    Made by Duke.

I had it on order from Play.com and recived it last week when it was released on Monday.

    Well worth it , obviously.

  13. Can anyone tell me why I watch things on Youtube it only lets me watch about 10 secs and then stops and shows a screen with share or watch again...

can never get to watch a whole vid???

Pay your over due broadband bill......ya tink !!!!! It works a treat after that !!LOL

    See you tomorrow ;)

  14. Pass side, you will be best to remove the battery and screen wash bottle to get good access.

Drivers side, remove air box (think you have a FMIC though, yeh??) and this will give greater access to the injectors.

If possible, give the area round the injectors a good blow out with an airline to remove any dush/crud.

  15. Located down the O/S of the gearbox.

Sensor is on a loom the comes up to the bellhousing (under the intercooler) where it connects via a plug into the main loom.

There are two sensors on your gearbox, one for speed and one for reverse light indication.

Hope this is of some help.
