  1. Ok tests have been done and there is no compression on the cylinder nearest the turbo, but the plugs look fine so don`t think its a blown piston............possibly valve or conrod????? Steve
  2. Ok mate cheers I`ll check but even if it was this I would have tought the engine would still run a bit???? Mine won`t fire up at all! Steve
  3. Last friday I went for my usual motorway test run after having my GEM ECU fitted. I got into 5th gear for about 5-10secs when there was a noise ( can`t remember if it was a pop or bang!) the engine lights all came on and I just free wheeled onto the hard shoulder. The engine will not start but will turn over with no clunking noises, there was no smoke coming from the exhaust after the engine died and no oil is lost as its still reading full on the dipstick. one strange thing is when I did turn on just the ignition the day after(not turning the engine though) there was a loud pop out of the exhaust????? what could have caused this as the engine didn`t turn over??? Any ideas welcome. Steve

Well a guy called Steve Simpson was supposed to come last WEDNESDAY at 10.30 to map my GEM ecu, at 2.00pm I called him and he said he needed a part for his laptop and now it`ll be 2weeks before he can fit me in!! How the hell does he mean fit me in when I`m his next job?????? I have now found someone else to map it so will be sorted Wednesday. Others have told me of his UNRELIABILITY too. Steve
  5. I was going to get an STI V4 intercooler as its bigger but the piping arrangment is different than mine in that the dumpvalve is fitted after the intercooler on the V4 where as its before the intercooler on mine. Steve
  6. The mapping is being done by a guy who does rally cars. He`s in an article in this months Jap Performance mag. So you mentioned having the turbo worked, my mate works for a turbo company so what could he do to improve the one I`ve got? Steve
  7. I`m getting about 80-90 miles on £20 worth of Optimax and a bottle of octane booster. Obviously driving it hard all the time but thats why I bought it!!!! What MPG does this give me then? Steve
  8. I am running standard boost now and it goes from 1.1BAR - 0.9BAR. I think this is normal for the STI2`s?
  9. Thanks for the info, I do understand that you can`t just slap on bigger turbos, bigger injectors etc... and hope the internals will cope as they won`t. What boost can the standard internals take with the mapped GEM system??? Cheers Steve
  10. I am having a GEM ECU fitted and Mapped on Wednesday, what power increase should I expect? Also what does the Anti Lag switch actually do other than spit out huge flames! Steve
  11. I am thinking of upgrading the turbo on my 96 STI V2. What are the options????? Steve
  12. I need a new box this week for my STI 2 as 1st gear has gone due to some hard launches at the drag strip. I was wondering what other boxes will fit, or should I just go for another STI2 box?? I basically want which ever will be the strongest. Steve
