  1. Don't think the 0-60 time will trouble any Scoobies The old one was a 750.. 0-60 in 23 seconds . The new one is a 1000 with injection!! The full 50 bhp for us now... at least it keeps up with the traffic! And it should do more than 20 mpg.. hang your head in shame, Mr. Impreza. Cheers, Plug
  2. To be honest, I was just going to get a Micra or something to replace it. But, the old Panda was such a hoot to drive - not quick, by any stretch of the imagination, but driving something that weighs about the same as a bag of sugar on skinny 135 section tyres teaches you a whole load about handling Italian cars may not be the most reliable, but they have got character.. Cheers, Plug
  3. No, the scooby hasn't been replaced! Mrs. Plug's crappy Fiat Panda threw its cambelt before Christmas, and although I've managed to get it running again, it's not the car it was. She didn't want me to get rid of it as she loves the old pile of rust, but short of putting another engine in it, there wasn't much more I could do. So yesterday I bought..... ANOTHER PANDA!!! 93/K with 21,000 miles on the clock (and every old MOT to back it up) - must be unique. There isn't a spot of rust on it, anywhere, it looks like a new car. All this for £800. It also has number of features missing on the old car, such as: 5 gears Brakes that actually stop the car A heater that works Comfy seats rather than deckchairs The list goes on and on.. it's actually a proper car! It cruises happily on a dual carriageway, as well, thanks to the 5 speed box. She thinks it's the business so I've got loads of brownie points as well.. no hoovering for me for a bit Cheers, Plug
  4. Alcantara is imported by these people: Boyriven Worth a try if all else fails.. Cheers, Plug
  5. My boss hit a pheasant at considerable speed in his month old 911 GT3. New carbon fibre splitter... £2000. He wasn't impressed. Cheers, Plug
  6. Ta. Worth a quick check with a meter before chucking it in the garage. Cheers, Plug
  7. Just a quickie.. Mrs. Plug's daughter has a crappy Renault Clio which isn't charging the battery properly. I suspect the alternator. Now then, what voltage should it be kicking out? My guess is around 13.6 - 13.8 volts as it's charging a lead-acid battery? Any help appreciated. Cheers, Plug
  8. Sorry to hear this, no age to go RIP Plug
  9. It's that time of year again.... Just got the renewal quote through (unmodified MY98 UK turbo wagon, Thatcham cat2, tracker, myself and Mrs (both in our 40s/ no con/ no acc)) £375 with Tescos... has crept up a bit since last year. Who's got a good deal recently, and where from??? Answers on a postcard please.. Cheers, Plug
  10. I've noticed that my current scoob does understeer when pressing on (it was a lot worse until I changed the Bridgestones for Goodyears). My first Scooby (pre-facelift classic) was the most neutral handling car I've ever driven.. the grip levels were unbelieveable. I only managed to get the back end to step out once, and when it did it I have to say it went in a big hurry. I won't elaborate on the details, but I was travelling *very* quickly at the time, if I had gone off it would have been extremely messy. Fortunately, I had so much adrenaline pumping through my veins at the time I had reactions that would have made Bruce Lee look like Forrest Gump, and caught it before it all went pear-shaped. Not something I'd recommend to others, though. Do not try this at home. Just my £0.02... Cheers, Plug
  11. Scoobless I sold my first scoob to finance my house purchase (some things have to be done) and remember the feeling when I watched someone else drive it away. Gutted. Still, as you say it's gone to a good home, time to think of what you fancy next. Whatever it is, it's got its work cut out.. tough act to follow an Impreza Cheers, Plug
  12. Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "Is it me, or does this taste funny?" Cheers, Plug
  13. Sic by Slipknot is a good one if you really want to get a quick lap in. I should know better at my age.. Cheers, Plug
  14. Don't think the car will recover from that but at the end of the day it's only a lump of metal.. you can get another. The main thing is you are OK.. a little the worse for wear maybe, but bruises heal... Cheers, Plug
  15. Big up to anyone trying to give up the evil weed... I am still clean after giving up 9/10 months ago (I have stopped counting now ), after 22 years dedicated puffing. Best thing I've ever done. Make no mistake, it was also one one the hardest.. everyone's experience of giving up is different, but I had desperate cravings for about 4 months. I can honestly say it was hell (and Mrs. Plug will probably vouch for that also ) but if you really want to, it can be done.. I am never going back... Cheers, Plug
  16. Barrier Deadlock System That's the one.. Cheers, Plug
  17. I wouldn't bother with a stoplock, any dedicated car thief will be able to remove it in seconds.. My scoob has a locking shotbolt fitted into the transmission tunnel, it can be left locked in reverse gear in a Saab kind of stylee.. can't remember the name of the gizmo but the fitting certificate is in the paperwork somewhere, I'll look it out if you want. It was fitted before I bought the car and think it was a couple of hundred quid, but with the lock on the car ain't going anywhere.... Cheers, Plug
  18. Pin 9 isn't needed as there is no physical connection on that pin. I guess the belkin cable has crimp contacts, so they just leave pin 9 unpopulated. Here's some PC connector details for future reference, if you're interested. Pinout clicky Cheers, Plug
  19. If you're after a VGA cable, it's a high density D type 15 pin connector (hence HD15). One like this should do the job for you - Belkin clicky Should be available from your friendly local computer shop. Watch out though, if you're going more than a few feet don't go for a cheap cable, the picture will be rubbish. Longer cables need to have coax cores for the video and can be expensive. A better option is to connect via a true digital connection (DVI or HDMI), if you've got one on the TV. Cheers, Plug
  20. Nah, I'm not brave, I'm a big wuss. A lot of people tell me I'm stupid though.. but that's something different Cheers, Plug
  21. My local Shell station was out at the weekend.. had to fill up at the BP garage. 99.9 for Ultimate, bloody robdogs Cheers, Plug
  22. My new telly turned up today! 37" LCD bad boy, picked it up at lunchtime and have been playing ever since. It totally rocks! And, the best bit bit is, I bought it with the money I saved since I quit smoking last year so in effect it was FREE! Cheers, Plug
  23. Steve, Have a look at Marin.. not the cheapest, but they do make good kit. I bought a "city bike" (flat bar road bike) a couple of years ago, very happy with it. Handles a treat, comfy to ride, not heavy and plenty fast (down a big hill) It was £300 though, and that's for the entry level model.. they just get more expensive from there. But, as with everything, you get what you pay for.. Cheers, Plug
  24. Possible runner for the next gen Evo? Mitsubishi Japan clicky Tasty! Cheers, Plug
