About silentjeff

  1. Which company? If you don't mind me asking...
  2. Cool... If there's one thing I hate it's preparing stuff for painting...
  3. Cheers for the prompt reply Scott. I'll keep a look out for the prices, and alternate finishes... On the subject of exterior parts, you mentioned earlier about the bonnet scoop and vents could be done. Would I need to sand these parts down to take the paint off before sending them to you? Our can you take care of that? Jeff.
  4. Scott, Have you got an idea of when you'll have the pricing for this service? Are we talking days, weeks, or months? Or will it be a case of individual quotes for each job? Exterior parts, would they need to be completely stripped? Also do you have examples of the other finishes? Thanks, Jeff.
  5. I've spent many a time blocking up the closed off lane for 1/2 mile at the Blackwall tunnel to stop these jumped up pricks taking the p*ss. On the motorway I agree that waiting to the cones is pretty damn suicidal as you're doing 40-50mph, but, when it's in an urban built up area it really narks me when people block you or won't let you in at the roadworks. Why have a 1000m tailback when you could have 500m with people using both lanes. If we observed the "one-in, move, next-in" rule traffic would flow fine. Instead we get massive tailbacks blocking multiple junctions with people getting territorial about their bit of road, and the hatred of anyone ahead of them. My list... not using indicators, lack of lane discipline, heavy braking for no reason, not letting cars in from side roads when crawling in traffic, blocking junctions, cyclists that don't obey road signs and signals, jay-walking pedestrians.
  6. Lot's of snow in Bristol... Don't like it, too many people have no idea how to drive in these conditions, I had three near misses today from cars sliding out of side turnings... I'm safe at home now... and I'm staying here...
  7. << On its own the brace wont do much or feel diff but with better uprated suspension it should stiffen and aid cornering/handling. >> Makes alot of difference on a classic... but not much on a NewAge, or so I gather from other people. I loved the way the car felt after I fitted the STi brace, I took it off recently, having read an article that it didn't really do much, and really missed the direct feel the brace gave the front end. So for classic owners I'd say it's a must... I'm about to fit a Cusco rear brace, don't know how exactly how it'll affect the car, but it'll look cool if nothing else... Pain in the behind to fit though, you have to take out the rear seat to get to the strut mounts...
  8. Taxi 6 - South of the river? Not at this time of night mate...
  9. Yep, need to declare it on your insurance... I assume they figure if you're fitting a strut brace then you're going to hoon around like a maniac... fair point... And I can't help but echo the other comments about it being a rear strut brace... I've never seen a scooby front brace that isn't angled. Here's a piccie of mine for reference...
  10. << on top of the tunnel between the 2 rear seat footwells >> That's where mine is, and another in the boot... just incase.
  11. Yep, you get more, electric folding wing mirrors, very nice, rear windscreen wiper, very practical, AC is pretty much standard, and the suspension is a little firmer than a UK car, but not at the cost of comfort. Even the STi type Rs are still comfy, especially when compaired to say a standard Evo. Don't know about the difference in insurance, etc... as I've only ever had the import. What is seen as a disadvantage is that an import really should be remapped for UK fuel. Having said that I've had my car nearly two years now, and it's still going strong, with just an ECU reset. I only ever fill it up on Optimax though. There's always that doubt in the back of your mind though, remaps range from £120ish for a Scooby ECU chip up to £1500+ for replacement ECUs.
