I’ve been a member of Kent Scoobies for 3 & half years and in that time I’ve seen quite a few highs & lows, as you probably know I normally sit on the fence with regards to the running of Kent Scoobies mainly because
1. I don’t like to rock the boat and hope things will blow over
2. I honestly don’t like to offend people
But I feel now is the time for me to speak up
I believe something needs to change, for whatever reason I think Pele doesn’t have the drive/enthusiasm/commitment/time to run Kent Scoobies the way it should be, as Pele says in a post it needs 100% commitment which unfortunately I haven’t seen for quite a while, I don’t think anybody can deny what Pele has done for Kent Scoobies and if it wasn’t for her we probably wouldn’t be here now having this discussion, but that is all in the past and while that was great we need to think of now & the future of Kent Scoobies.
Now I’m sure there are members who will disagree with me on this (which is fine as we are all individuals) but I know there are also quite a few members who agree with me, this also brings me to another point, the so called divide we have in the club.
When members have a different opinion on something is that a divide, no it’s called human nature, when we are at a meet and members go off into groups for a drink and a chat is that a divide, once again no because it’s human nature, in fact get any number of people together for whatever reason and they will always form groups to chat, I know it’s not easy for newbie’s sometimes (remember I was one once) but it is a 2 way thing but I do agree we should make more of a effort welcoming new members.
I’ve noticed a few members have put my name forward for the RO and I am extremely flattered that members even think that I would be capable of doing the job, although I have never actually said I wanted to do the job if there was enough support then yes I would be happy to take up the challenge and give it my best shot.
Finally I would like to say I have made a great many friends on Kent Scoobies and the SIDC who I hope will remain friends even after I/we no longer have Subaru’s, we are all part of this club because of the love of our cars and the friendship it brings with other owners but most of all the club should be a fun place to be where we can have a laugh and not take things too seriously.
Thank you
Ian
