  4. take it easy at Brands guys, i had a bit of an off on a test day in late May in the pissing wet, came off sideways at the top of paddock hill, went across the gravel, wheels dug in and the car tipped onto its side in the gravel. Fortunateyl in the beemer not the scoob, eveyhting all right except timing belt had jumped so suffered some slight valve damage. It's been running and raced since with bottom end rebuild but i'm rebuilding the head this weekend. so take care guys. I might be up for a trackday sometime soon with the beemer if that's ok? mmm scooby baiting, fun...
  5. oops, missed that one, i was away that weekend
  6. hi all, hopefully i'll be along. If anyone is interested I'm racing the BMW 320 at Brands on Saturday 27th May and will also be at Lydden on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June. These probably clash with lots of other events but come and find me if your around. I'll post some more details later.
  7. thanks for the quick replys guys, i did read this last week but forgot to reply, doh!, thanks again
  8. sorry to hear about this - those pictures look bad but glad that there were no major injuries, hope you get some replacement transport soon.
  9. Evening all, I'm in need of a set of front brake discs, front pads and rear pads for my MY02 WRX. I'm happy to fit them myself but don't fancy paying dealer prices for the Subaru pads at £107 a set for the fronts and god knows what for the discs. Can the Kent Scoobies recommend somewhere that i can get aftermarket OEM spec pads and disks for better money? Mail order is good and OEM spec will do fine; i'm not after upgrading anything right now. thanks in advance,
  10. with your engine tune and your gearing, I wouldn't have thought it was that surprising on stages. try a 2L NA 16 year old engine, surprisingly economical on the roads
  11. planning to drop in
  12. "Please take notice of what the marshals tell you, they are ony doing their job at the end of the day and that is to keep you and the drivers safe - the smoother they can keep things running and the faster they can clear any accidents that happen means everone gets to go home at a sensible time.... " good advice indeed although for those of you that haven't been to Rockinham before its an all seater stadium inside. I think the only bit that you could stand next to is the bit thats shown going out of the paddock entrance into the outside car park on the stage map - this does seem to be quite a bit. (bottom left corner of diagram). The competitor access tunnel (the bit above) has a sign over it saying "exhaust appreciation tunnel" hope you enjoy it. This tunnel is how competitors vehicles get in and out under the sw grandstand. There's probably no camping on the site - although i wouldn't fancy camping at this time of year. I did pitch a tent in the paddock back in May but this was competitors only. There is a nice inn about 2 miles down the road, sorry can't remember the name. Rockingham has to be the most impressive stadium venue in the UK - it must be easily four times bigger than any football stadium, it's enormous. Only downside is that for such a big venue which must have cost millions the showers are sh!te! hth richard
  13. sorry guys, won't be there, too knackered from work
  14. BMW 320i race car - as per sig pic. I race it in the Milltek Sport/SELOC BMW Challenge this year at various circuits. This year i've raced at Lydden, Brands Hatch, Snetterton (track/practice day - will be racing at Snett on September 10th and 11th), Rockingham, Croix-en-Ternois in France and Silverstone. Car Spec: 1989 (F reg) BMW 320i, E30 model, 1990 cc engine with BMW Motronic 1.1 injection management system, Stripped out, Safety devices roll cage, 4Ltr plumbed in fire extinguisher, Schroth 3", 6 point race harness, new for this weekend - Cobra "Evolution" race seat with side mounts - i need to lose weight to fit in it properly. Mintex C-spec 1155 brake pads, Motul RBF 600 brake fluid, ATE Powerdisk brake discs - at about £25 a disc they're so cheap!, Goodrige stainless braided brake hoses. Powerflex Polybush throughout. Currently on AVO suspension, -60/-40mm springs with single way adjustable dampers, may upgrade soon as the springs are too soft and give poor roll stiffness. Red top 25 race batttery (the most expensive way to save 9kg over standard battery) One enormous Ramair cone air filter, Milltek race exhaust from the manifold back, custom made and develped for the E30 for the Milltek Sport BMW Challenge. Race spec engine oil that the supplier said was good for about 10 hours before it needed changing - that'll be about a years racing then Tyres: 15" 205/50 Kumho, V700 pattern K9A race compound - spec tyres for race series on KN RLR alloy wheels. Rollcentre lap timer. There must be other stuff but i forget......
  15. The M20 is a bit blocked around that area, accident at J9 coast bound earlier and queues for Kent Show, so there may be delays. I may be along later with the bm, just for fun, although its a bit hot for it. cheers,
  16. just wondered if you were planning any track days soon. I'm "testing" at Snetterton on Sat 26th, at Lydden on March 19th, North Weald in late March and Brands in a SEMSEC race on April 2nd. The Lydden test date might be of interest to you but MSA licence required. North Weald might also be of interest to you. Might be interested in joining you if you've got enough tarmac - i have some spare wheels!
  17. Got any practice days planned soon?
  18. i should be along later. cheers,
  19. nice strip out job j-k and arron, just the center console, door cards and some of the dash to go (bin that glove box!) are you bringing it to the meet this evening?
  20. will bring money along this evening
  21. Hi Pele and gang, Regretfully I've got to withdraw from the day at the last moment. I found out yesterday that i have two failed rear wheel bearings on the bmw. I need to get these fixed before a trackday next weekend. Two hours drving on the M25 and a session on the rolling road might not be too clever either on knackered bearings. Sorry for late notice and any inconvinience I guess that the next reserve on the list is now promoted.....
  22. I got the safety devices B6 mulitpoint cage, 6 point harness (Shroth) and plumbed in 4L extinguisher for about £1,100 all up as a deal from Safety Devices. Which cage are you getting?
  23. A couple of photos! I decided to leave the race track and park up.... (car number 3) EDIT: these were from the last race:
  24. Hi all, It's my last race of the year in the SELOC BMW Challenge on Saturday 23rd of October at Lydden Race Circuit near Canterbury. All are welcome to come and watch the race and find me in the Paddock. As usual i should have one or two spare tickets - available first come first served from me at Lydden. This is advertised elswhere - like at work so i may well run out. If you want to come along, send me an email and i'll give you my mobile number for you to call on the day. If i run out of free tickets to hand out, then the circuit charges about £8 per adult, children free (i think). I'll be in two races; the SELOC BMW race and the JT Handicap race. There are seven races on the programme, qualifying will start from around 12:30 to 1:00 and racing should start from about 3:00pm. It's forecast to be wet on the day so it should make for hilarious spectating as all the bmw's head for an end of season first corner pile up and spend the rest of the race spinning off every corner - whilst i'm cacking myself trying to avoid the carnage! cheers Richard
