You can get a scooby for under £2k these days, I wouldnt touch them unless you know the cars inside out though!!! >> Cant see your pics colin

  4. << hahaha nah im not a chancer, well okay maybe for £6k I would have been I just sold mine for the exact reason your worried about buying. Im about 40 miles to work & back every day then trip to girlfriends a few times a week, shes about 15 miles away then just going random drives was leaving me skint, so sodly for now at least I need a 40-50mpg 12k a service car!! I will be back though I was 21 when I got mine so there may be hope for you yet My advice - try to get the newest lowest mileage standard (cosmetic mods ok) UK car you can with full dealer service!! Keep it that way cos when you mod them they cost even more!! Theres loads available so choose wisly >> Thanks for your advice Gonna take a look at one in a garage in Bathgate later, I'm just a bit confused, prices seem like they're all over the place. Don't know what to expect for £6000
  5. << Yeah thats the place. Cut the clubbing and drinking then your sorted... scoob or poisioned liver and hangovers??? i know what one i'd preffer Just get yourself along, we dont bite. Just ask Ruby(Sharon) she goes to every meet anywhere i think. >> Your right .......... had a good few years of the club scene, time to get myself sorted and have something to show for my money !! Ha ha listen to me, wait till friday night comes and The Twig and Ratt are beconing we'll see how much will power I have then !!! Joking aside, I'm busy getting a few ins. quotes etc ..........I've been told there's a nice Scooby in Kaim Park garage in Bathgate at the moment, so gonna pop along later and have a wee look
  6. << Yeah come along to ratho my gf will be there and she is 19 so ull be able to chat to her >> Thats good news ......... wouldn't dream of just turning up without any other girls being there. So Ruby isn't Ruby after all !!! lol
  7. << colin youre a bad bad man >> Did I miss something?? or is this another chancer trying to take advantage !! lol
  8. << Morning Chloe. Welcome to the nut house. Rubythecooby comes from Grangemouth, no doubt she'll appear very shortly As with the advice.. at 19 id stick with the sport too, not go the get up and go of a turbo but will still keep up with them once you work out how to drive it properly and the running costs will be lower. Unless of course that youve got a family memeber willing to be very nice to you and insure it through them Get yourself along to the lothians meet next tuesday, its only along at ratho. Andy >> Just been looking through some of Ruby's posts ......... she sounds quite a character, look forward to speaking too her Grangemouth is that place with the big flames shooting oot the chimneys ain't it ?? Not too far from me Yeh the insurance and up keep sure are gonna be a bit of a nightmare I think but ................. I REALLY want my scoob, I'm sure if I put my mind too it and cut out the clubbing at the weekends I can do it !!! Coming to meet you all, I'm a bit shy and would feel out of place with all you guys, does Ruby go to the meets??
  9. << insurance will probably be the biggest killer ruby the scooby has a sport and i think you could safely say she loves it buy shares in shell >> Oh no ......... the more I look at this thread, the more I think I'm doing the wrong thing Ruby the scooby, where does she come from?? It would be nice to speak to a female scooby driver No offence lads your advice is much appreciated
  10. << << So you think I'd be better forgetting about my scooby for another couple of years If I do that then I could go straight for the turbo ..... ohhhhh what a decision to have to make. I'm dying on getting my scoob, but I'm trying to be sensible about it which is hard cos my heart is kinda ruling my head !! >> to be honest i would put the turbo on the back burner just now and save like a demon for another wee while. Get the sport, still bags of fun to be had, even on the light modding front But then again the choice is entirely yours, you know what your financial constraints are and as has been said many a time..........listen to your head not your heart. Your time will come, might just take a tad longer than expected Remember............a scooby is for life not just christmas!!!! >> Haha !! I know I need to be sensible about this ............ it's just such a minefield out there when basically I know very little Thank everyone for your help so far .......... any other chickadees on here from my area ??
  11. << Hi welcome, I know someone that will take your money of you for a classic scoob 5 and a bit grand The car is a 'V limited edition' N reg, dark blue taxed and mot'd, for how long i don't know New tyres all round >> Hmm see this is where my lack of knowledge kicks in ............ no idea if thats a good deal or not Sounds cool tho, an N reg, mibbi stuff starting to go on a car that age, but mibbi I'm being unrealistic thinking I would want a newer one for my money ?? how many miles do you know??
  12. So you think I'd be better forgetting about my scooby for another couple of years If I do that then I could go straight for the turbo ..... ohhhhh what a decision to have to make. I'm dying on getting my scoob, but I'm trying to be sensible about it which is hard cos my heart is kinda ruling my head !!
  13. << There are quite a few members/ forum user's from West Lothian ......... There is a local meet next Tuesday ........ Check out the " Lothian's Meet " thread . >> Ooooh we meet up do we !! But I ain't got my scoob yet ......... so am I still allowed ??
  14. << Insurance is going to be the killer............unless of course you get the sport to start with or you have just won the lottery!!! If that is no problem then make sure that when you view any cars that you take someone with you that actually knows what they are looking for when it comes to subarus. Also don't just settle for the first one you see, there are plenty of second hand cars out there...........some are pigs and some are not, take your time and spend wisely!! >> Hey Lottery I wish !!! No I have saved up hard, just a bit worried that once I buy the scooby I'm gonna find the up keep the killer. going by what you are all telling me, that might just be the case. Think I need to sit down and do the sums before even starting to look for my car !!
  15. Not at all, all help appreciated ....... I've had a wee nosey around your site before I joined, noticed Hypertech mentioned a couple of times. Where are they based ??
  16. Thanks for your advice ......... I know, if it's gonna be too much I might have to wait a bit longer. I realise it will be the upkeep rather than actually having enough to purchase it in the 1st place.
  17. I'm having trouble with these post ........... keep sending them before I've finished typing I'm from Bathgate in West Lothian, quite a few scoobys going around here, any of you from this area??
  18. Yip I know it's gonna be costly but .......... it's my dream to own one, obviously if it is gonna be too much my dream will have to wait
  19. << hit there and welcome, u looking to get a turbo? first id check for insurance on one first , mite be a bit costly for u, mayb get a sport to begin with, where about u from fuzzy >> hi Have no idea at the moment, been checking out a few ins. companies so still working on that.
  20. Hope I am posting this in the right section, I'm new so be kind till I get too know you all please !! I've been assurred your site is very helpful so ........... I'm looking to buy my first scooby. Need some advice - firstly I have about £6000.00 to spend, but the prices of second hand scoobys seem to vary so much, I have NO idea what I should expect to be a good deal for that kind of cash. Also, I am only 19, can anyone advise me roughly what my monthly outgoings would likely to be to keep the car on the road??? I would be using it for work, so travelling about 20 mile round journey five days a week, then mileage for scooting abooooot !!! Thank you in anticipation ...........
