  1. Hi ccrien, my book is written by Chris Rees who is a motoring journalist and wrote for Japanese Performance mag amongst others and has owned at least three scoobs - it covers all the different types and has a section on rallying and he does seem to be a real enthusiast having driven them himself. It also has a basic maintenance section (which is pretty basic) and at the back a list of stats for all the different models. Looks to be a good read - I got it from Amazon too for around £7 incl P&P.

Nothing like a bit of reading on the scoobs of a Saturday night lol :headbang:

  2. Hi there, thought Id post something different.

I just bought the Haynes Enthusiast Guide to the Subaru Impreza and cannot wait for some great bedtime reading - has anyone read this and does anyone have any comments.

I hope to be an complete expert on the Scoob very soon and know my Prodrive from my RA-R - I also spotted a prototype convertible in the book, could be the next big thing!

In addition to this, whats opinion on Jap tuner mags - I personally prefer Japanese Performance (its a bit more tech) as my chosen read but theres also Banzai which is not too shabby. Or are there better ones out there?

Please post your replies here :P

  3. Hi there & welcome - it could be under "Whats this rusty part" I think in Gen Sub discussion. Also I presume you mean SCB Newbridge near Edinburgh - I was readin through Motorz weekly and noticed Japanese Auto Parts, they are in Govan - I have never used them but thought it might be helpful if you need the part. Or I can recommend McIndoes garage in Dechmont, West Lothian although I dont know if youre trying to do the job yoursel but they are very good and have helped me out with some advice.

Good luck, gotta keep the newage on the road.

  4. Hi there all.

I recently attended the SIDC track morning at my nearest track at Knockhill and am now keen to try out others. Whilst Knockhill was enjoyable I felt the track length of 1.27 miles was on the short side and the straights could have been longer! I have discussed Kames on this forum so am looking to see which is the best track for us Scoobs in particular.

I might even consider booking a holiday next year with visiting a nearby track (eg England or whatever ....) in mind so would welcome some opinions on this.

So, WHATS THE BEST TRACK out there?

    :driving::driving:

ps I liked the look of Croft from the plan I looked at ..

  5. Hello - njoid the trackday, myself and the motor survived successfully :D - I learnt a lot about myself and the car and probably got in quite a few cars way at the same time lol. Am keen to try again, might even get my own helmet now. Sounds better that there was 20 scoobs at Kames - its nice to check out other ones although there were some nice vehicles at Knockhill they were not quite scoobs ;) . September maybe too soon for my budget but wouldnt rule Kames out later on - better warn them when Im on my way. :boldblue:

Also Flat Out photography took some really great pics too - a cool day at Knockhill all round.

  6. Hello there I have a question about whether to use unleaded or super unleaded in my 2001 standard WRX? I cant seem to find a definite answer anywhere. The guy who sold me my car said normal unleaded is fine and this is what Ive been using but I noticed today it says super inside the fuel flap.

As the WRX has been running fine a debate has started between my man and I - he says stick with the unleaded and save the cash (he runs a diesel!) and I think super is the way to go.

Also any petrol brands to be recommended? Im hoping to take the scoob to the track soon so I guess super unleaded would be the way to go in that case.

Its probably an age old question and excuse my newbie ignorance but I would like an opinion - Im hoping to run my scoob for some time to come and keep it in tip top condition.
