About Flatnose1927

  1. Good stuff, like-minded eccentrics locally is a bonus for sure! Much though my good lady (who is also a serious scooby addict) doesn't really like the idea, I have a feeling the 2000 might well end up at a Dalton Barracks track day some point this year, perhaps see you there... Thanks for advice on the MAF, i'll try to find an excuse to leave my office and check it today. PS rocker cover gasket a pain in the a** to do or not? I have the gasket and the spanners handy!
  2. Correct! Some nice person decided to take a photo of her a good few years back at a rally and she's now immortalised on Wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1927.morris.cowley.arp.jpg And i'd love to upload a couple of photos of the scoobs but jiggered if I can work out how to add them to the message
  3. Evening all, I thought after 9 years with the same red 1998MY Turbo wagon and having just added another red turbo wagon (2000MY) to the stable it was about bl**dy time I joined you boys n' girls! The diesel Skoda Fabia VRS is finally gone, long live the King... Our 98 has had a very hard life with us, bless her cottons. She's seen us through 3 children, 2 dogs, 2 businesses, crossed continents and played snowplough (we're a bit rural) but despite looking pretty tired and sounding like a bag of nails in a washing machine she has only ever needed the sum total of one engine rebuild and a bunch of bushes in 110k miles - the MOT guy gets bored putting her through every year! The 2000 is a slightly different kettle of fish - I know about the WR Sport full pipe, PiperX filter, ally drop links, PIAAs and whale tail (still haven't made my mind up about it - love or hate...), but bearing in mind i've had it a week while it's mostly been stuttering, the rare moments of full power have been a WHOLE different experience to the 98 so I have yet to discover what else has been done to her.... For the more elderly amongst us (i'm 42, go figure) it feels a bit like a carb engine which accelerates great until you floor it then chokes itself. On which note, anyone know a cunning way to figure out whether the stuttering is down to TPS, MAF, boost solenoid or something else (CEL not coming on at all) without my lovely local Subaru garage screwing £100 out of me for the privilege??? IIRC connecting the green jobs under the dash allows engine off boost solenoid testing whereas greens and blacks all together allows MAF testing? Call me a twat if i'm wrong, I won't mind ;-) Pics when I find a moment, feel free to comment/ abuse/ take the mick meantime! And if you're in North Oxfordshire and need a hand from an amateur but enthusiastic spanner monkey PM me. PS the username is my other toy, 10m points and a Noddy badge to the first to correctly identify ttfn James
