About Dave KG

  1. Yeah, I've largely packed my gear away as well - I am slowly using it up on my own cars... I got bored of the one-up-manship that I saw all too much of in detailing and the crazy fashion chasing. More interested in enjoying myself these days I'm a secondary teacher - Physics and General Science and it certainly keeps me busy. Love my job, wouldn't change it for the world - I reckon you get out of it what you put in, and there's a big satisfaction to seeing the kids getting and enjoying what you are teaching
  2. Thanks for the kind welcomes folks I think I will enjoy my time around the forum Pup's called Scapa - named after my favourite whisky Yup, that's me... I don't really frequent DW that often anymore, haven't detailed seriously for a good while since I started school teaching which takes up all of my time! Well, most of it - the rest of the time is dedicated to the puppy! Only really plod away with my own cars here and there, but happy to answer any detailing questions based on my now rather "old-school" knowledge (refuse to spend loads keeping up with latest waxy trends!!).
  3. Hi folks, I'm a new Forester owner (first Subaru) from the Perthshire countryside in Scotland! I'm a long-time Volvo owner, but decided I needed a 4x4 for getting to work in winter as we get decent snow fall in Highland Perthshire, and I'm a school teacher in a country school. So I picked up a 2006 Forester 2.0 X - base spec, but wasn't looking for anything fancy, just a decent car for use in the snow and an estate for taking our new Border Collie puppy out on walks ... Quick pic or two of the car: Just shy of 100k miles on it, hadn't had a timing belt in that time so that was done PDQ and I've done oil and filter, diff oil front and back, 'box oil, air filter so far... Will continue working away on the car myself Seems to run very nicely, and is enjoyable to drive. My other car (which I was not convinced would be quite as good in the snow!) is a 160k mile old Volvo S60 D5 - love this car too, will not get rid till it dies completely, as I've had it from just 7k miles! I enjoy driving, passed my advanced driving test in the UK (IAM) in 2008, and also enjoy keeping my cars looking decent - used to run a business detailing cars before I became a school teacher, still have a lot of the gear which I like to use keeping my own cars looking half decent (school teaching sees to it that I have only got time to plod away with my own cars from time to time now so the Volvo isn't looking as good as it used to!). So that's me, I look forward to being a member of the community now I have myself my first Subaru! A final little pic or two ... our 17 week old Border Collie puppy: Hello!
