  1. Nope...Still waiting for AJ to take delivery of these supposedly awesome SC32 billet turbos... It's been nearly 4 weeks now wait when it should have been 1 week. Apparently the hurricane in the states caused delays in shipping and there is a backlog but I would have expected them to be here by now Turns out my rear diff was nearly empty of oil, the planet gears were blue and the diff was basically shot. SWCC thought this could have been the reason it was down on power as the back wheels were hard to turn causing resistance, they sourced my a sti diff so it's back on the road again but there is no change in the performance unfortunately. So, I'm still waiting for AJ to ring me about the new turbo, I'm in two minds whether to go ahead with this now as I've pumped over £3k into the car so far. AJ wants another £1200 odd for the new turbo, up-pipe, downpipe, fitting, and remap so its starting to become very expensive and no guarantee of even getting to 300bhp, let alone 320bhp which the car should be capable of with that turbo and supporting mods I already have? Maybe I just got unlucky and have a car that is naturally down on power, or at the bottom tolerance band, friday car lol. Don't get me wrong I love this car and it drives great I just want a bit more power!
  2. great results there, what specs are you running engine mods wise?
  3. Hi Terry, yes it is. I saw you in SWCC today. They are a decent honest bunch of guys and have been good as gold with everything. They swear the Japspeed headers aren't causing the problem, yet AJ say's to ditch them and go back to std. It turns out the manifold gaskets failed so I'm hoping and praying that was the reason they couldn't get decent power out of my car. I'm going to get them to see if there is any difference first, if not they will put the std headers back along along with the new downpipe (sports cat), up-pipe, and SC 32 turbo. I have to admit I really don't like the sound of equal headers as it really mutes the unique sound of these engines. I'll get Dave to grind out a bit of the internal welds in the std headers and smooth everything out whilst they are out "on the floor" so to speak. Hopefully AJ will get these new SC32 turbos delivered tomorrow; He seems to think they will sell like hot cakes. He certainly convinced me they were the way to go and best compromise without going large turbo / slow spoolup.
  4. Hi all, Update: Car went in and had all the parts fitted beforehand plus a japspeed y-pipe for the larger inter-cooler. Took the car into AJ the next day and had a disappointing result. 238bhp and approx 230 ft/lb torque. I gained 11 bhp with a worse spool up time. Not happy when I was expecting nearer the 270-280 mark. Martyn and Alan said they couldn't get much extra out of the car and there was something holding back. They put it down to my new exhaust headers and that they were basically cr@p and they had seen the same problems before with other cars running the same design headers (which SWCC recommended Terry) Short of it is Alan is getting me a sports catted downpipe, another up-pipe, and one of these new TD04 SC32 billet turbos from scooby clinic. They have just come out and the two they already had made 300-320 bhp with similar mods to mine. This Friday I take the car down to AJ's with my standard headers (i'm getting the welding clag dremmelled away and a light port) which they will fit along with the new turbo, up-pipe and downpipe. I'm hoping for some better results, it seems the problem is these japspeed / clone / equiv equal length headers are not performing and the general concensus is to stick with std unequal length headers until chasing the big (400+) horsepower outputs. Anyone else had experiences with aftermarket headers, equal or unequal? I really dont like the new exhaust note its lost the boxer sound and sounds(I hate to say it) a bit ricer
  5. All booked in for Friday down with Martyn. Car is at SWCC tomorrow to have the parts fitted. I'm really hoping for more than 270bhp if the std prodrive pack makes 260, but we'll just have to wait and see. Like I said I'm not chasing absolute max power and would much rather a torquey motor that I don't have to ring the neck out of! I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas lol
  6. Yeah I realise that torque and power are connected to each other lol, what I meant was you can map a car to have a bias to more torque / torque spread over the range as opposed to outright maximum power at the top end. I'd much rather a car with better low down torque for every day driving and it's torque what accelerates the car, yeah? I just waiting for Dave and Dano to fit my goodies, then I'll be straight down to see Martyn to get it remapped. I'm hoping for close to 300bhp with the following mods hks filter prodrive back box prodrive exhaust center section prodrive intercooler pipe 550cc pink sti injectors (already bought them a while back I heard the stock pump is close to limits & dave recommended the injectors) 2 steps cooler spark plugs walbro 255 fuel pump stainless sti size uprated intercooler unequal length stainless exhaust manifold and stainless de-cat up pipe bov (I like the noise) remap for the above A few pics of my car...
  7. Hi Terry, good to meet you last weekend, did your car make the most bhp on the day then? I've been speaking to Dave at SWCC and he mentioned about your car(very nice btw ) and the one off hybrid turbo you have - I'm totally jealous! I hear it's mapped more for high torque output rather than outright bhp; that's exactly what I'm hoping to achieve. I also want minimum lag and a nice spread of power across the rev range. SWCC will be fitting new stainless manifolds, free flow up pipe, new cambelt, sti injectors, walbro 255 pump, sti intercooler, 2 step cooler plugs, and a couple of other bits and bobs and gauges. I hoping when it's all been setup correctly to get over 270 bhp but will sacrifice a few ponies for lower down torque if possible. I always knew the car was down on power having driven a few cars over 270bhp and they were in a different league I take it everyone runs on v-power only then? not even super unleaded? You don't work at the college do you? I think you might know our two apprentices Dan & Gregg from CSS just up the road... Dean
  8. Hi there I have recently joined the online site having went down to the engine tuners rolling road shoot out last weekend, I had the blue wrx ppp bug eye model with the morette headlight conversion. I've been told the car should be making circa 260bhp, yet on the day it only made 227bhp...not a happy bunny see my printout on the forum under dean. Car is according to history a proper factory fitted ppp model with certificate and confirmed by pro drive with the only other mods a has panel filter and dump valve. I've been told it might not have the pro drive ecu in it, I also have sti injectors, up pipe, sti inter cooler, and walbro 255 pump ready to fit. Management light came on shortly after installing dump valve and filter element with the code description lean on bank 1 but only on idle not WOT. How do I find out if I have a pro drive ecu in the car or has someone taken it out at some point in its life? I wanted to get all the parts fitted including boost gauge and oil temp guage then take it to someone to get remapped. I don't know why else the car would be down on power any advice and help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Dean
