  1. I have 30 feet of 2" Cool-Tec stuff if that's enough?
  2. The perfect way to be! I'm just not like that myself, but then no 2 two people are indeed ever the same. I think that possibly DOES come down to income though. If you can afford to lose 10k in a couple of years thats fine, but i know i couldn't. I dare say i would probably be arguing a bit different if i still owned a scoob, but i know for a fact i'd be considering selling it. There was a good thread on SNET just there about if it's really necessary to have big power. We never really use it as much as we should and i dare say, the cars we have the most fun in are small engined, great handling(or maybe not even that great handling!) wee cars that in a straight line, could tear a blade of grass. I know thats the case with me... We pay all this money for big fast cars, but can't use them to their potential unless you take it to the track, but how often do we all do that anyways?
  3. Agreed, but it's a viscious circle. If one person can't afford it, neither can a lot of other people and that then get's into the cost of the car depreciating further. I know not everyone cares about that, but there will always come a time when you come to sell a car and i'm sure it'll be a concern then. BMW have done the right thing with the efficiency of their engines and Audi is following suit. Over the next 2-3 years, i think most of the manufacturers will be bringing out greener cars, so it shouldn't spell the end of a lot of high performance cars on the market....it'll just mean the older ones will lose a lot more than they are just now. Just look at the depreciation of the newages....around 15k for a 2006 Hawkeye now, bargain!
  4. How else can they get us to buy newer more economical cars though?
  5. You can see the point though can't you? When people fail to buy as many heavily using petrol cars, the manufacturers will see this and realise they need to get more out of petrol and diesel engines. Just look at what BMW are managing....their X5 diesel is in band F. That's £190 cheaper to tax than any equivilent sized 4X4. By all means, it isn't great to have to pay more, but i think it's a good thing and hope the car makers can bring out more cars that are better for the environment AND have the go we take for granted. Oh and also the government get their finger out with the bioethanol.
  6. Have a read.... http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-general-1/388233-p1.html
  7. I don't think many P1 owners could say they don't use V-Power or similar....maybe even with a touch of octane booster, with their stock ECU'd car. Not everyone will run a Type-R on anything less either, so there isn't any issues at all........mine is still on it's original engine, as is a lot of other owners.
  8. Dave's RA is defo a good base, but you know what the car has been through. It's been ripped apart quite a number of times and engine and drivetrain may not be the original stuff. Not saying that's a bad thing, just saying it's something to remember. I know Coultys isn't standard, but Coultys is cheaper than the money spent on it. Daves is priced at the going rate for them.
  9. 1 of them P's!
  10. Good luck with it Chris.
  11. Nice one Cal. I've just done the same myself and bought my first SLR...an A100. What did you get yourself? Took a few test pictures yesterday, but i've got SO much to learn. Just found your thread in off topic...
  12. Nope. That was an optional extra along with 18 inch wheels, P1 embossed backbox and electic Recaro seats.
  13. Stock 2.5 with only drop in pistons and a "up to" 7k rev limit is fine when running around 450-500. Wouldn't keep the stock pistons if i was running more than about 380, but if you have STi heads of some sorts, i'd fit some stronger rods. Liners are defo NOT a must, unless you intend on going beyond 500-550. All IMHO of course.
  14. Lol tis true, i am mad. Best scoob i've owned so far.
  15. Yer, mine is still for sale. Give us a PM if you want a gander at it Jim.
  16. Open to offers....... http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=106656
  17. Engine let go on a mapping session down south. This was some time after the MAF going and had some mightily cr@p engine oil in it, but i know for a fact the MAF started the problems. You could just tell the engine wasn't running right after the MAF went and was replaced with a brand new one.
  18. Type-R if you want a lower top speed, but revs quicker. P1 if you want a more civilised ride comfort and longer gearing and the UK limited edition factor. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=108600 More than welcome to have a gander/run in it.
  19. IIRC it's a 99-00. It's the MAF sensor Frank. Had the EXACT same symptoms on the old RB. I just hope you haven't done the same damage as what happened to mine.
  20. :kerstsmiley:
  21. So your a tart Colin? :kerstsmiley:
  22. I'd be for repairing them. Get the bumper off and get a heat gun onto it, then once properly heated up, the plastic should be able to move back to near enough it's original position. Tailgate will be harder to sort, but a good bit of pressure to the back of the inside, most should pop back out. Then just get any bodyshop to sort the rest. This means that the paint will match fine at the edge of both panels, as the colour will be blended in, rather than a fully painted panel, to old panel.
  23. If anyone can get a decent finish with an aerosol can, let me see! Better off getting Dent Master or similar to do a small ding...
  24. Hilton at the top of the road is LUSH-AS-F00K mate. Defo worth trying there first!
  25. Lol, class! Knew someone had to say it.....sorry Davie.
