  1. Ooooooooh do they do it in pink?
  2. Well the silver 2007 WRX is going. It is just too bland for the wife who likes a more flamboyant car. nothing wrong with it really and it can still push on when required, we just want something with a bit more grunt and show. Sti's are too stiff and nervous on the road for my liking so I am not sure where we are going to go. suggestions?
  3. Having owned 4 scoobs from 99 on I think I am qualified to comment. The biggest difference is seating position. I liked the sit IN it classic position and it took a while to get used to the sit ON it newage position. I suppose it does depend on how tall you are though. My old 99 wagon was more "chuckable"and I was brave enough to find the limits of that but no way can I get near the limits of a new age. I drove Acids car last year and I loved the "Go kart" handling on it. New ages are grown up cars for modern day. The Classics are still the hooligans and always will be. Vive le difference!
  4. Stuart Moncrieffe, Balcurvie, Windygates in Fife does a superb job.
  5. Errr sorry about that I got interrupted mid post. I didn't mean to be so abrupt! But the point remains and it amazes me the amount that some fok will spend on a track day car when they could be competing for less.
  6. Getting OT here a bit guys. Track days are NOT competition. There is a huge difference
  7. Got to get the 205 Mi16 running and I will be back doing autocrosses down the borders with the mental 4 off the line format. Got a Civic to prepare for autotesting and the Mex has to be put back together for classic rallies. Just have to get my back fixed
  8. A G-clamp is a handy device for pushing the pistons back if you don't take the nipples off. Will also need a bolt with a thread that screws into the hole in the disc to push it off the hub as they can get stuck on the hub if overheated or neglected. Think it is a M6 IIRC. If the disk is stuck screw the bolt in a bit then bang it wityh the mallet or lever it with a pry bar or big screwdriver. Take your time.
  9. Well done Scott and Rosie. ROs will come and go and I think that is right but the memories of good ones will stay around for a long time and Scott you were one of the best. I am sure I will see you around soon enough. Where's that gig list then?
  10. Noooooooo! Numbers are not legal on road cars as well unless covered by event insurance i.e. if you are on an event which you are not cos it is a road car. Gilding the Lily mate.
  11. Forget using road tyres on the track mate. The difference is unbelievable. Get a set of cheap road legals for the MOT and getting to and from.
  12. Water temp should not run as high as 100 deg on any car. However is the guage calibrated correctly? Is the water actually boiling? I am no expert on Scoob engines but deffo 100 deg is not right. Is your fan working all the time? Is that hard running or all the time?
  13. Funny how you will always find someone with a bad word..... Had a lot of dealings with Aird and not a bad word to say about them some good Scooby rumours about them too.
  14. Mrs Z has this in hand and we have some 4 star treats awaiting us on the road North.
  15. I have 2 thoughts about this. 1. As I live just off the southern route to Crail (just before Leven) I often hear the roar as the cars and bikes race off from the Windygates roundabout so I know that people are speeding on those roads and that includes the really bad accident blackspot on the Standing Stanes road. So they should have cameras there. 2. What is the point of doing people at 80 on the dual carriageway bit of the A92? Only revenue collection. However this isn't new as I remember Gumball getting done 2 years ago. It is no secret that the cameras are out and really they are only taxing stupidity.
  16. Falkland in Glenrothes are the experts in car settings. Years of race experience
  17. Bloody hell. I nip off to the other side of the world for a few weeks and I find that everything happens when I am away. Count me and Mrs Z in Grant/Andy. I will book holidays to make sure I am not in Utter Pradesh or somewhere when the time comes. I am up for any organising/co-ordinating that may be required. Can't do anything about accom until I get back though.
  18. Well done big man.
  19. Just as well you have changed the rims as the car is a dead ringer for the Z-mobile although ours is a WRX
  20. Best of luck big man
  21. As an ex-owner of a cashmere yellow sport special I can tell you that it is a very good car. You don't say where you are from but since you have been speaking to Cusco I assume it is Fife. In which case was the one tha was for sale in Windtgates? The Sport special is a very good handling car but it is not a turbo. It has a lot mor body roll and if you wanted to change anything that would be it but it is utterly pointless to do anything to the engine. I should also say that it is a brilliant car in the snow and will go almost anywhere.
  22. Great year for the Scoobs. Congrats to Gary Adams and his sponsors and car maintainers Eden Subaru. Barry Johnson IS a loony! Plenty footage of the jump on youtube.
  23. Stuart Moncrieffe in Balcurvie, Windygates near Leven is da man. His name is in the book. Highly recommended.
