  1. i have a hawk wrx and with just an exhaust (still 1 cat in place) a panel filter and a racedynamix remap i am pushing 285bhp (over standard STI power) but being the 2.5 its the torque that is so impressive, mine is 330lb/ft and it pulls like a train. with just a vf35 and another remap it can go to well over 300bhp. the gearbox is supposed to be good for 350bhp.

the total cost to get this figure......approx £700 including the remap.

  2. just to clarify the road noise thing.....when i bought my BBS wheels they wee fitted with fullrun tyres (cheap crap) and although they seemed to grip ok the road noise was horrible. i have a loud(ish) exhaust system and the tyre noise drowned even this out and really gave me headache especially at speed on the motorway!

it sounded like i had a fleet of army landrovers around me....that horrible whirring noise they get from their knobbly tyres.

now i have changed them all i can hear is the lovely burble from the pipe again and no road noise.

  3. i have recently changed to Avons and i have found the grip to be really good especially in the wet, very little tyre noise and i haven't noticed any change in fuel economy (or lack of in the case of scoobys  )

i can't remember which Avons i have but i will have a look tomorrow.

  4. Hi and welcome, you're not too far from me. i'll let you know if there's a meet or drive out happening.

there is a couple of us going to the stage rally in bream nr weston super mud on the 26th Jan if you fancy going? (£5 per person and £5 parking)

  5. +1 For Keith Michaels if you have mods. Sometimes not the easiest to contact but worth the try. Admiral where the cheapest until I wanted to mod then they did not want to know.

yeah, had to swap mine over when i started on the mods and keith Michaels came out the best on their modified car policy.

  6. before I went for a remap I made a few changes to the car and this included swapping the standard fuel pump for a Walbro 255 which I swapped over myself.

I managed to spill a bit due to forgetting to take off the fuel cap and thus causing the tank to self purge  and this caused a fuel smell in the car for a week or two.

now, 2 months on, I still get the occasional whiff of fuel and the thing that concerns me is that with the old pump when I was getting low on fuel and took of the fuel cap to fill up, there would be a 'woof' noise as the vacuum in the tank released but now there seems to be no vacuum and no noise.

is this normal or have I not sealed the pump mounting plate back into the tank correctly giving me a bad seal?

any advice would be welcome as I am now a bit confused. :(
