About cvega

  1. drive an STI is the next point in the plan I'm starting to bias towards the WRX, seems like a good compromise between daily use and speed when needed, and upgradeable if i ever get more power hungry. Thanks for all suggestions and responses so far, very helpful.
  2. I went there today and spent some time with Paul who let me have a go in the WRX that's for sale there, and also possibly will get me a STI to try out. Professional and not pushy, was pleasantly surprised - have bad experiences with dealers so far! If I will be getting the car probably it will be from them
  3. hmm... it's hard to say what the future might bring My MR2 turbo I went a bit overboard with and ending up polybushing the whole car, changing the turbo, re-doing the brakes, literally rebuilt most of if and in the end, there always was something that needed doing. To be honest, the mods I was thinking of were (not in order): aftermarket turbo-back exhaust (not loud if possible), BBK (unnecessary in the STI), possibly some uprated / slightly lowered springs, perhaps uprated ARB's, but in terms of power not sure. I always prefer a car that turns/brakes good rather then accelerates stupidly fast but then struggles to stop! Any mods have to be done keeping in mind that this will be my daily car (approx 140 miles/week, most of the time less than that)
  4. I only drove the WRX today and alllmost bought it on the spot, very different drive to my Type R - pulls so hard from 3k ish rpm. Exactly as my previous car the MR2 turbo - which I sold because it was old and constantly something wrong. How reliable are scoobies ? be honest! What are average running costs? like brake pads, discs, springs, backboxes.. things that are common to be changed...
  5. Hi guys, complete subaru newb here currently in a honda civic type-r (fn2). Been to test drive the WRX today, 06 plate, 31k miles (so low?!) but ideally I would want the STI for better brakes, more gears, more power... Am I thinking right? or maybe I should just get the wrx and mod it? the price difference is 2k, both come with 6 month warranty, both 30k miles. Have not driven the STI yet. Cheers Jan
