Thanks very much mate. Makes sense. Was the sti a better spec'd engine than wrx? Can someone tell me differences? I have always heard of the wrx engines doing big ends but not sti. Coincidence? Like I have said I'm new to scoobies so sorry for all the questions. Lol.

Hello all, I've just joined and posted up in the introduce yourself section. I'm possibly buying a impreza version 2 wrx v-limited off of a friend, the engine ate a big end and he hasn't got the time to fix it. So he is selling it cheap as it is. I'm interested in buying the car but would like some advice on whether to straight engine change the car from a reliable source or to put another lump in it? Another friend who is into his scoobies said about a version 5 sti engine or a ra engine? Could I have peoples opinions and any other options please as I'm totally new in the Subaru world.
