About Jak

  1. Argh! Thought i'd found the pretty much perfect one... alas a mouse had been at the engine wiring so walked away fairly sharpish! Other than Autotrader & Pistonheads is there anywhere else you'd reccomend looking? Ideally want: Either Grey, Black or Silver Would really like Leather & Sunroof model (SL) PPP would be great but would posibly consider something without. Under 40k miles. I know its a fair bit to ask but I think its just gonna be a waiting game...!
  2. Thanks for the link - Ideally looking for Grey or Black with a Hawkeye Appreciated though, if you come across anymore let me know
  3. So went to see a Wagon that i'd found today with high hopes - looked good on paper with low mileage and full dealer service history, however when i got there i was disapointed to find tatty bodywork and a car that to me just did not look as if it had been looked after On top of this the cambelt hadnt yet been done and being a 2005 this should technically have been done 2yrs ago!! Although obviously that could been replaced the bodywork was still no where near what i'd be happy with which is a shame. Anyway the search goes on! Looking for a WRX Wagon Blobeye (Possibly consider hawkeye....) with low miles (up to 50k miles) and prefereably with PPP fitted - let me know if you know of something that fits the bill Jak
  4. Just been told the recomended change interval is 60k or 5 years... any idea on cost of a cam/timing belt change? possibly with waterpump? makes sense to do it at the same time i guess!
  5. Thanks for the pics John, unfortunately i don't seem to be able to see them - must be my muggle membership status One more question, i've read the cambelts are a PITA to change - when is it recommended they are changed age/ mileage wise?
  6. Ahh ok, well as I say, coilovers will be a fairly swift purchace after the car so perhaps dont need to worry about this quite so much I've seen the Hayward & Scott bits - they look pretty nice quality so could well be an option. Wouldn't go de-cat anyway i don't think so shouldn't have to worry too much about MOT, would prefer to look for a sport cat or something which should help with noise levels too! Would be good to see pics of the Hayward&Scott backbox fitted if you have any?
  7. Hi John, Thanks for the reply - Like you say it seems like it may just be a bit of a waiting game... though if i could find a good, low mileage non ppp wagon, i may still be tempted - a Remap & Exhaust could always come later on i suppose Surprised that its only the B/box & Cat on the 2.5, i'd have expected the pipe between the two to be upgraded too to be honest : / What is the problem with the rear struts? Jak
  8. Hi Thanks for the reply! Certainly a bit to consider there - And I agree, ideally a PPP would be better for me... however I seem to be struggling to find a low mileage example - Looking for something with below 50k on the clock, ideally more towards the 30-40k miles mark as planning on keeping it for a while. Road roar... lets just say i'm used to a bit of that with 10" rears on the 350! but i'm sure its bareable anyway RE: The rear shocks, although obviously i'd be keen to avoid buying one with failed units they will be being swapped for coilovers pretty sharpish Although i'm not looking for massive power I would want it more than the standard 225... as imagine this would not be hugely thrilling! So maybe its worth hanging out for a PPP pack model afterall. especially if getting it to that kind of standard is going to cost north of a grand... food for thought. Shame though as I thought i'd found a nice example - just lacks the ppp Jak
  9. Thanks for the welcome, yes hopefully as keen to get searching This was my opinion too - although big power is not hugely high on the list at the moment, but i imagine the extra bhp (40ish?) the ppp adds is a nice improvement over stock. I've seen litchfield offer a similar package but looks to have significantly bigger gains.... could be worth a look? Also seen the ECUTEK name floating about a fair bit. Based in Bucks
  10. Hi All, Joined up because am considering a blobeye wrx wagon as my next car... This was my last car, and would be looking to go a similar direction with the Wagon.. Onto the questions: 1. Obviously, some do and some do not have the ppp, from what i can see this is essentially a re-map and an exhaust? Is this correct? 2. Assuming what i have said above is correct is the exhaust included with the prodrive pack a cat back item or does it go further? 3. When i eventually manage to find one I like the look of, and arrange a viewing is there anything i should be looking out for i.e. common faults? on the 350 it was skipping bose headunits, window motors and clicky rear axles! I have searched around a bit already and realise i can probably find some more of the answers myself through more searching, but I am at work at the moment so its not really possible! Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thanks in advance Jak
