About SimonBell2

  1. Many thanks to all of you for your replies and advice - what a great forum! I will have a go at the weekend.
  2. I have just had extensive work done on the engine of my 2001 Classic including timing belt, water pump and thermostat replacement and coolant change. Is there a method of bleeding the coolant system as I'm not convinced I've got all the air out.
  3. The date code on the VIN plate (space 10) states 'Y'. The example I found on the web gave 'X' as 1999 so I guess my car was destined to be a Y reg but ended up as an X reg. Can't explain this and I probably won't bother pursuing it as I don't think there's anything sinister in it.
  4. Thanks for the replies. I am going to investigate the age thing through the VIN and see if I can find out more. I'm sure there's a way of determining when it came out of the factory and how long it sat at the docks before going to a dealers.
  5. New owner of a Classic registered in April 2001. Whenever I've searched for parts, info, etc the age range for models seems to end at 2000 for the Classic with a car of my age apparently coming within the Bugeye range. This is also true at the motor factors who think that it's a Bugeye. What is the best way to ensure that I buy the right stuff for my car. I have uploaded a few pictures in my gallery. Many thanks - Simon.
  6. Many thanks for all your kind words of welcome. I'm straight in with a question which I probably should be posting elsewhere but I'll try here first; my car is a Classic but was registered in April 2001 which causes problems when searching for parts etc because for that age it is assumed to be a bug-eye. What category does it fit in and does it differ from earlier models?
  7. I'm in Norfolk at the moment but probably about to move house to somewhere else in the country, depending on work.
  8. Hello all. After 6 years of searching and faffing about I finally bought a Classic turbo in October. Why did I wait so long? What a brillant car. Looking forward to top tips about the Impreza, particularly the Classic 2001 reg. I have changed the wheels since this picture and now have nice set of gold 17" ones that really set the car off.
