About Chris-turbo

  1. Well I have been a bit busy so not really had much time to have a look at the subaru. I'm going to check it out later today and see if I can figure out what is wrong with that speedo. Will update if I have any luck.
  2. Hey I'm just outside Glasgow, aye ment to say wagon! It IS a 54 plate!!! (the gf would kill me if she knew its real age lol).
  3. Cheers for the welcome guys, it needs a few spots of rust cleaned up, a new fog light (can see the one on the right is cracked). Also needs speedo sorted and headlining redone, then I will be happy (for a while)
  4. I used these guys a lot for my giant 4x4 tyres. Cheapest prices I could ever find. As far as I can see the biggest winter tyres they have on the site is 17's. Maybe give them a call though? Prices are good! http://www.tyresdirectuk.co.uk/xcart/home.php?cat=250
  5. Hey guys, I just bought my first impreza turbo a couple of weeks ago. The speedo seems to be pretty erratic. Most of the time it doesn't work at all, sometimes it will go around the wrong way and hover around 120mph or so (when I'm probably doing closer to 60) but on longer journeys when sitting around 70mph it will just start working again and stay working till I finish my journey, then it won't work again! I have had a good google search but most problems others have seem to effect the performance (limp home mode) or bring up warning lights on the dash and mine does neither. Anyone got an idea where to start?. The car is a 1998 Impreza Turbo, UK model (and a wagon if that makes a difference). Any advice or tips will be greatly appreciated and paid for with cyber beers! Chris.
  6. Hey guys, just thought I would pop in and intruduce myself. I have recently bought a 1998 Subaru Impreza Turbo (hatch, oh noes). In the last 5 years or so I seem to have been buying sensible cars (ish) but I have always missed my turbo motors. When I seen a nice tidy Subaru for sale at a good price I just couldn't help myself! I have had quite a rap sheet for cars and motorbikes in the past but I will keep it short and skip the really boring stuff! Sierra Cosworth 2wd (around 450bhp iirc). A few VX Cavalier sri's and a Gsi 2000. VX Astra gte 16v mkII. Escort RS Turbo (torque steer madness with more mods than I care to remember). Jaguar xjr (chip, different supercharger pulley and some other mods). Saab Turbo. Since then it's been either shopping trolleys or big 4x4's. I really do love the Subaru, brings me back to the "good old days". I shall hang around and pester some of you older members for some advice now! My new toy by Chris Davie, on Flickr
