About RWDSteve

  1. A mate of mine's Uncle had been telling him that his Ford Mondeo TDI (some kind of sports version) had been "chipped" to 350bhp. No other mods, just a magical superchip. So I challenged him on it one night, he just looked very shifty and embarrased as it dawned on him I knew what I was talking about then quickly left. What must go through these peoples heads? They know they're talking complete twaddle but spew it with such conviction
  2. It's feels like its boosting smoothly when driving, I've been thinking the first thing to try is another boost gauge and see if that shows the same problem...
  3. Oh, also give the tin piece above the rear engine/gearbox mount a good thrashing with a lump hammer.
  4. Yeh, cut the clutch reservoir down a fair bit but that was the easy bit. Used the newage pipework but had to cut the 90 degree elbow and extend it a bit with some 50mm pipe. Cut the lip off the exit pipe on the intercooler and cut the rubber hose right down. Cut and bent the original right hand bracket to make that fit. Only used that one as its absolutely rock solid at that. Dump valve has different hole centres on newage so had to dodge it on, the success of which will have to be monitored. A Forge VTA will just, and I mean only just, fit down the side of the coil pack. Just needs venting properly now. Once you get it right it slots in really easy. I may buy a 90 degree hose as I'm not 100% happy with the fit of my modded one off the newage.
  5. A few pics of my little project, nothing too technical... Looking a bit scabby... Cleaned up ok Had to shorten the Intercooler-Throttle Body hose right down... And its in! It wasn't that simple mind you, alot of head scratching involved...
  6. Just doing some research online but thought I'd put it to you guys. According to my boost gauge, when I put my foot down and watch the boost pressure build up it jumps up in stages until it reaches its max boost level. I'd expect the pressure to build up smoothly. Is this common? Does it need sorting? And what's the likely cause?
  7. It's going in, just undergoing some readjustment with grinder/hammer/hacksaw and just a little bit o lube
  8. Has anyone else attempted this only to find its nowhere near as straight forward as the online guides would suggest and is infact a complete b*tch?
