About Lillpete

  1. I fitted a 2nd hand throttle body inc tps and icv so pretty sure it's not that. When I checked all the vacuum hoses the other day I came across a denso thing? With two small vacuum pipes connected to it, whilst the engine was idling high I had a fiddle with some pipes and connections and found that with that unplugged it runs pretty much perfectly :-) and without turning the cel on Does any one know what this is (it's below the right hand side of the intercooler at the back of the engine??
  2. Went through the mot ok yesterday so seems to be ok The car is idling high at the moment it fluctuates between 1200-2500 but then will randomly drop back to normal for a while before rising again
  3. Sorry got a bit distracted with work so getting the car running right was put on the back burner, but tonight I have taken the intercooler off and pulled of about seven or eight different pipes(one of which must be the one you were talking about) to inspect but they all appear fine. I have sprayed WD40 around different pipes and joints with the engine running but the idle remained constant. So still at a loss as to what it might be. The thing that spurred me on to check this today was that it has been running generally ok but I took it to the redline coming out of a junction over the weekend and straight away it started running badly like the higher boost level had broken a weak seal or pushed a sensor beyond where it likes to be? Its back to being mostly ok again now
  4. Thanks Are does it look like a water pipe (about 10mm in diameter with spring clips to hold it in place??) Did your car run fine sometimes and bad others or was it consistantly bad??
  5. Thanks, I Have had a look but can't see anything Is this the pipe you mean *on the throttle body??
  6. Any ideas?? I've tried google but can't find any info?? I've fitted my spare ECU and it still does it so it's not an ECU fault.
  7. Hi, I have been suffering with poor running for the last two years, it drives fine with the throttle position sensor unplugged but has idling and power issues when it's plugged in. The TPS is set up correctly and is functioning as it should for voltage being returned (0.5v fully closed - 4.3v fully open) I've now noticed that when I plug in my laptop to the obd11 that the idle switch signal seems to be the problem, but I thought that this was simply generated by 0.5v being sent back from the tps?? Currently I sometimes get no idle signal when the throttle is closed and the tps is registering <0.5v whilst other times the signal is calling for idle when the throttle is open and voltage returned can be as high as >0.6v ??? is there another parameter that I am missing for the ECU to interpret the idle switch signal?? By the way its a MY99 UK Turbo
  8. Replaced the Lambda again last night (genuine subaru) but no change haven't changed the temp sensor yet mainly as it looks like a pig of a job (alternator off??). what I can't understand is why the first lambda cured the problem temporarily and why unplugging the TPS makes it run fine?? I was hoping to get it running properly before we go in holiday on friday (Isle of White) but not looking likely now
  9. I've always prided myself on getting decent mpg out of my cars Honda crx averaged 42mpg pootling to and from work BMW 328 averaged 32mpg on 4 mile commute and 37-40 on a run But I've never managed better than 28mpg out of wither my impreza turbo or my legacy 2.0 gls
  10. That's one funky little car, I wonder what it's worth?? It's always tricky to value rare Jap cars
  11. Ooops Just had another look and found the sensor which does look the same so I'll order the replacement. What is the other sensor I was looking at the, it is directly under the alternator, the connector is at a 90 degree angle, is it the crank sensor??
  12. Just had a look at my coolant sensor and it looks a bit of a state, its cracked where a bolt holds it to the block (am I looking at the right part as I didn't want to risk breaking it)but doesn't look like the ebay one. Am I looking at the wrong part on the engine or is it just not the right one for a MY99??
  13. Stealers price is £150 odd plus vat!! World car parts supplied one with the wrong connector but said if I let them know the original part number they could find the correct one from that. Can anyone let me know what the correct part number is for an O2 sensor on a 1999 uk turbo 2000
