  1. Guys and gals,

I`ve been working on a deal recently with the local (Tayside) Kwik Fit branches to give club members some form of discount at their depots. It`s now looking promising and is to go ahead locally as a trial. Initailly it is to be rolled out in Tayside and depending on the commercial success of the scheme it may be extended further. Final details / member discout cards etc are still to be ironed out. What i would say though is that if this scheme proves to be valid in the initial trials this could save us all a fair bit on consumables. More details to follow as they are available. Just thought i`d give you all the heads up on this.

Please participate in this poll, even if you are outwith the initial test area.

  2. Tiss,

I`m in the same boat as you buddy, (trying to get into the offshore field) and have been for the last few months without much success.

As a time served muti disiplined engineer I thought it`d be pretty straight forward to get involved. It`s turned out not to be though. Perhaps I was looking to start to far up the ladder, I have been told on numberous occassions that getting on as a roughneck or roustabout is the easiest place to start, but I`d have thought that with all the talk of skills shortages time served people would have been snapped up just as quickly.

Just what I`ve found myself FWIW ;o)

  3. Hey peebs jus a quick BTTT.

Could everyone who`s comming along please drop me a mail with contact details for themselves to teknopete@scoobymods.co.uk

    This serves 3 purposes :

    1. I`ll email / text or bell u all personally with details of the final plan on Sataurday.

    2. It ensures I`ve got contact details for all the members / new members in the catchment area.

    3. Stops the chavs n unwanted element from crashing the meet ;o)

BTW i`ve found us a nice new road face-icon-small-blush.gif)

The norm at the meets is :

Meet up at Sainsbury`s in Dundee around 7pm (this is confirmed in advance)

Have a bit of a crack for a whilst (till all expected folks turn up).

Head for something to eat (place determined by attendees).

Out for a wee run (route advised at meet).

Meet finishes with a crack about the nights events & date of next meet set.

So c`mon peebs get in touch with them details and I`ll be in touch with you all on or before Sataurday.

We haven`t had a meet for a whilst folks so lets make this a good 1 eh. It`s up to you guys how good it`s gonna be

and from past meets we found the more in attendance the better the meet.

Talk to you all soon folks

    Pete

BTW Scot gimme a bell m8 as 2 what the script is with u

  4. Jus thought I`d stick my ore in here guys,

I`ve had numberous dealings with Eden Subaru in the past and will continue to, as the guys there actually want to help.

Unlike a lot of other places I have dealt with in the past six years that I won`t mention, who just want your money.

Eden are also very receptive to club members and understand that to a club member their car is their pride and joy, therefore treating customers and their vehicles with respect.

Russ does a sterling job over there IMHO and wouldn`t see anyone stuck if he can help.

On the night of their opening we (the Tayside and Angus members) were invited over for an intro and to take part in the events. Which we all thought really decent of them. There may also be something in the pipeline real soon with them face-icon-small-wink.gif

So c`mon guys let them know we as a club appreciate them are supporting them. If your scoobs unwell it`s worth going that little bit further to call in on them.

  6. Right folks a few members have approached me re getting the good auld meets back on the go.

So here we are, initially i`m looking at going back to the original dates i.e. the last weekend of the month.

Usual deal, meet up, a bit of banter, pizza hut or something 4 a bit of nosebag then a wee run ;o)

I need 2 check my rota but I think its gonna need be 24th or 7th otherwise i`m working face-icon-small-blush.gif( so no can do.

Alternatively its no prob for me to arrange it for u guys but without the RO there seems a bit daft going by some of the posts and

what i`ve heard of the last few attempted meets. Seems a bit short notice so i`d prefer 7th but hey eithers good 4 me.

So no muckin bout peebs if u r interested name down only if u will attend (ideally say if you have a preference to dates)

C`mon all you newbies get onboard if u haven`t been to a run this is your chance (and to meet up with new faces)

BTW if anyone wants 2 get hold of me re anything club related or that my mails in my profile.

    1. Teknopete (either date suits me)

  7. On the clutch front I can speak from lots of experience (ask around)

IMHO you`d do well to forget the paddle as the shock loading on the transmission will soon enough turn your gbox into mince.

At the same time the lifespan (depending on power being run) can be short the last AP paddle i had lasted 10 months face-icon-small-sad.gif

Best I`ve found upto now is the one im on currently, its a Helix HD with uprated pressure plate guaranteed to take 350Lbft of torque.

I resorted to this after the STi one started slipping when we were out mapping (StTi clutches are allegedly only good upto 320Lbft) and haven`t had any probs with the helix face-icon-small-wink.gif They are a bit pricey but guaranteed to take the punishment.

  8. Anyone from Dundee & Angus wanting to meet up for a run to Alford. We`ve arranged to meet up at McDogs in Forfar at 08:30.

So if anyone I haven`t contacted wants to join us for the run feel free to meet up at 08:30. Its at the second turn off for Forfar (from memory it`s sign posted Alyth / Blairgowrie / Forfar) for those unfamiliar with it.

See u all there bright eye`d & bushy tailed

  10. John,

When we get there m8 it goes without say I`ll muck in face-icon-small-wink.gif

As I`m sure all the other RO`s will.

Big red won`t be entered into the S&S 2morra as I`ve not had time to prep her since KH, so I can help out there

an possibly do a bit of the fire crew thang.

  11. This incident has raised a possible issue. Perhaps trackday insurance should be made manditory to protect everyone on track?

Personally I have never taken BR out on track without insurance as I couldn`t afford to replace her in the event of a serious off.

It`s a fact though that there are the occasional drivers who attend trackdays (luckily very few at SIDC days) that leave there brains at home however these drivers tend to be spotted by the marshals and taken off before brainfade sets in.

  12. Could the other RO`s who are arranging meets for this gimme a call. There`s a few of us meeting in Forfar (en-route) so if you guys contact me we can all join the procession as you pass through ;o) Alternatively you guys from further south may need a fuel stop by the time you get here which is OK we have 2 optimax stations. (Oh and a McDogs) face-icon-small-smile.gif Any Dundee peebs going bell me on the usual number as well eh 07939 416007

  13. Hi Podgie,

I`m sorry 2 c both the cars in such a state buddy, not 2 familiar with the cossie and as such I may be wrong but going by the pix it would appear that the scoob (who had the line for the hairpin) came off the worst, due to the crease in the roof and in effect loss of structural integrity. I hope your customer is going to square up with you for the damage to your car and IMHO he should also fork out for the scoob face-icon-small-wink.gif As you say

<< he came down to the hairpin on the right hand side of the track >>

so are we correct in thinking then that he was trying to undercut the scoob who had the race line? If so then perhaps a trackday BAN would be in order, 2 give him time to think about what he`s done.

I know this isn`t going to sort either of the cars but it may make people think twice before they try to execute stupid manuvers.

  14. Cupra,

Gotta say it buddy IMHO the only colour of scoob that suits gold rims is blue. I had gold on mine a couple of years back, but wasnt 100% sure so ended up doin them black face-icon-small-wink.gif It`s all personal taste buddy, many peebs told me initially that black was cack, a few said the same bout my 3 phase titanium with sparkle and the dimond cut outer with titanium inners. But hey I`ve seen loadsa peeds now stickin rims on their cars that I did years back face-icon-small-smile.gif Anyway for st3ph3n heres one Russ posted of mine with black on face-icon-small-wink.gif

Big red with her trackday boots on

  15. Karl,

I fitted the full whiteline setup (front and back droplinks and antilift / antidive kit) to Big red about 4 or 5 years ago and would recommend it to anyone with a scoob. Makes a tremendous difference to handling IMHO. Does away with the 2 stage damping (sloppyness) that comes into play with the standard plastic rear droplinks when driving the car on the edge face-icon-small-wink.gif The car feels more comfortable when on its limits. Have to push harder before it breaks out at the back.

Fitting order I normally recommend is : Rears / Anti lift / fronts face-icon-small-wink.gif

  16. Jason,

If cheque payment see if cheque has cleared into sellers account ( I always wait for funds to clear when selling unless its peebs I know)

If paid for by paypal / credit card more protection is offered.

Get in touch with the seller and get a tracking number from them.

Then chase up the tracking number with the courier / post office, if they deny all knowledge then contact the seller and ask for a definate delivery date and explain the situation. Get a landline number from them etc, then eith give them max 2 days to deliver of contact Ebay direct re refund as the seller will then be outside of agreed delivery.
