  1. I was a member on here for a bit but stopped using the site as this forum is not particularly active. Therer's a lot more activity on scottish scoobies which helps with meets etc. That being said I've never attended a meet, can't be arsed hanging about a car park. For the comments that ss is just for neds, what a load of bollocks. I've met quite a few of the members through buying parts etc and most are terrific.
  2. If I knew of one I don't think they'd be friendly for much longer after posting it up on the internet. Your best bet would be to go to a garage that you use frequently and ask in there.
  3. Got the paintwork waxed and sealed for winter so its come up a treat. Just waiting on my mate forwarding me the high res images for a brief write up. Just waiting on my mate forwarding me the high res images for a brief write up.
  4. I was quoted £220 for a 1 Day service or £180 for a 3-5 Day. Your best bet would be to email Linda in the office. As for the coating coming off, thats horrendous. If I'd have known that I may have considered going else where. I'd read plenty of reviews on many of the other forums that I've been on. The majority of which were good, granted there were a few that werent great but nothing like that. In the meantime I'm happy with the finish and I'll see how well it lasts
  5. Hi All, I've been looking about getting my wheels refurbished for a while now and put together a write up: My main criteria: 1. My current wheels are slightly kerbed so the edges should be repaired 2. The wheels must be powdercoated and not spray painted. - Powder coating will provide a much tougher finish than wet spraying (I've had wheels sprayed before and found that after 9 months or so the paint has some chips in it) 3. Ideally I would need a 1 or 2 day turnaround - I've only got 1 set of wheels and this was easier than trying source a loan pair or have the car off the road for a prolonged period of time. 4. As there was some bubbling of the paintwork on the inside of the wheel I wanted a "proper job" not just the faces painted. 5. I wanted a nice tidy job but at the same time didn't want to pay over the odds. So over last few months and have contacted quite a lot of the Glasgow(ish) based refurbishment companies and dismissed most based on the following: My wheels are gold, many companies did not offer gold powdercoat. Some only offered a 3-5 day turn around. Poor customer service, not responding to emails or phone calls quickly. Clearly trying to rip me off as gold isn't a "standard colour" Oh and there's another lot close to my work, Initially I was considering using them but witnessed them acting like bellends on more than a few occasions. (Firing rockets across the street and shouting abuse at one of my work colleagues for driving a 996) So eventually I bit the bullet and today have had my wheels refurbished by Chameleon in Renfrew, mainly because they were one of the cheapest of all the companies I contacted, were very quick at responding to emails and offered a 1 day service The process: Removal of tyres Stripping of old paint Shot blasting Powder coating Refit of valves and tyres and wheel balancing of the wheels. The car was dropped of at 9.15 and was ready for collection at 3.00pm Contact details can be found here and ask for Linda http://www.chameleonmetalcoatings.co.uk/ Overall I'm very happy, but I'll let the pics do the talking: Wheel needing refurb: Close up: Stripped and Shot Blasted Wheel: Finished Wheel: Close Up: Overall:

  7. Good news on this one, Subaru UK are supplying a replacement free of charge Copied from their facebook page: "Subaru UK Many of you have been asking about the recent theft of a Subaru Forester ambulance in Scotland. We recently released this statement to the local press: "Subaru UK was deeply saddened to hear that a Forester 2.0D XC donated last year to the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, and co-ordinated by the Colin McRae Vision Charity, was stolen at 7:00 am on Tuesday, 20 September, 2011 and has since been discovered burnt out. The £24,070 paediatric vehicle was stolen from outside an on-call medic’s home. It provided invaluable support to sick children from all over Scotland, transporting young patients swiftly and safely from rural areas, to intensive care units in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Edinburgh-based Subaru dealership, A F Noble & Son, will be supplying the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation with a replacement vehicle while Subaru UK complete preparations for a replacement Forester free-of-charge. This is expected to be delivered within the next fortnight. Marketing Director of Subaru UK, Kenyon Neads, commented: “Mindless acts of theft and arson such as this defy logic and have a huge impact on the lives of others. Everyone here at Subaru UK was devastated to hear the news and we are doing everything we can to return Scotland’s only specialist children’s ambulance service back to normality.” We will give you more information, including details of the handover of the replacement vehicle, as soon as we have them."
  8. There's some amount of scum kicking about!
  9. just tell him to "deal wae it" problem solved. I'd have done the same,
  10. I had a few different quotes, some from £1200 - £2200, it all depends on the garage tbh. Mine was midway between the two My car didn't have much rust on it but tons of small dents, outlines of "WRX" stickers and other shite that one of the prev owners had stuck onto it. I also opted to have the door handles, sills, wing mirrors, rear bumper spats and orange wedges all colour coded to freshen up the appearance. The finish is 1st class. The paintwork is immaculate with no orange peel. I seen a 61 reg vw golf the other day and had a very close look at it. It was bloody awful, craters in the paint, for a minute I thought I was looking at that bint Adele's arse
  11. A couple of preview pics before collecting it tomorrow, apologies for the poor pic quality it was taken on my phone
  12. Well, a few of the guys I know off of pistonheads use him, they trust him with their countach, diablos and 911's so I'm sure it will be in good hands.
  13. Aaarrrggghhhh frustration, my UK classic turbo has been in for a full respray, picking it up tonight / tomorrow morning and work is dragging in. Can't wait to get out of here tonight and go get it. Doesn't help that for the last 2 weeks I've been either cycling to work or driving my mums diesel fiesta. Pics to follow soon.....
  14. The original windscreen on my classic cracked a few months ago so I had to get a new one fitted. Its amazing the difference, perfectly clear and clean. Also paid a little more and picked up a heated screen. roll on winter
  15. If you saved up all your used condoms over a year and processed them into a tyre it'd be a f**kin goodyear
  16. Spotted this morning on the M74 at the Cambuslang cut off, still on the hi-ab. There's hope yet.
  17. Hi Guys, Looking for some help, A mate of mine had a couple of cars stolen off his drive this morning on Brownlee Rd, Law. They turned up with a hi-ab and lifted 2 Mr2's he had been working on. Both are Mk2's 1 Grey tintop with no wheels 1 Red sunroof model with white standard alloys - registration R815 DJC. They plonked the grey one on 1st then the red one straight on top, tried to steal a 3rd car too but couldn't get at it. Apparently his neighbours watched it happening but didn't think anything of it and didn't get a reg or company name off the lorry either, only it was white. If anybody gets offered a Mk2 turbo engine and box or the cars themselves, please let me know. Thanks in advance. Andy
  18. Thanks for the help guys! greatly appreciated
  19. Hi Guys. I'm looking to get my wheels refurbed but want them powder coated, not wet sprayed. Does anyone have any recommendations for places in Glasgow / Lanarkshire area? Dropped into powdertec yesterday and they were wanting £75 per wheel, which I thought was quite expensive and they only wet spray the wheels as they can't get a good colour match on gold when powder coating. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Andy
